California State Games: 2027 Infielder Analysis

Starting on July 30th, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the California State Games at Fullerton College and High School in Fullerton, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-2029), and gave our staff an ample look at the state's top prospects.

Today, we continue the release of the scouting reports from the event, now looking at the 2027 infielders:

TOP 2027 INFIELDERS

1. Sebastian Navarro, Mater Dei (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B Athletic MIF with fundamentally sound actions and sneaky pop for his frame.
Body: 5-6, 162-pounds. Compact build with present strength that plays bigger than his frame.
Hit: RHH. Narrow setup with a subtle bend in the knees and front foot positioned slightly open. Hands held comfortably near chest height, minimal pre-swing movement. Uses a short leg lift followed by an extended stride toward the pitcher. Maintains a mostly level swing with slight lift. 63.2 mph bat speed with 13g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 mph max exit velocity (78.5 avg.); 334-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. Compact arm action with a quick release, showing consistent accuracy from various angles.
Defense: Athletic laterally, smooth glove-to-hand transitions; projects as a 2B/SS.
Athletic Testing: 6.84 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.40-inch max vertical jump.
