Each time I see Starling his profile grows on me more and convinces me more of his ability to get his intriguing raw tools to play in game at a high level. A dynamic athlete as I’ve mentioned time and again the tools for Starling entice heavy attention from the run tool to the defensive tool to the bat speed to the arm strength to the hit tool and the power potential Starling will flash each of these during a showcase workout/INF-OF/batting practice and now those are all showing in game at a consistently strong rate. Starling showed the defensive ability and arm strength on a pair of strong plays ranging to the LCF gap on a high drive to the wall that he confidently tracked making the play look smooth and easy with a one handed catch two steps from the fence while early in the game ranging to the RCF side of CF to secure a fly ball and uncorked a one hop strike to home plate narrowly missing an OF assist on a bang-bang call at the plate. At the dish he showed off an aggressive, but disciplined approach with sound swing decisions and his ability to play the small game using his strong run tool. After taking a looking K in his first at bat where he went 3-2 without swinging the bat taking borderline strikes he appeared to take what looked like ball four, but was called a strike he responded by dropping down a BH bunt to the 3B side which he pushed with enough pace to get past the charging 3B for an easy single and then in his third trip to the dish worked to a 3-1 count and ambushed a FB over the plate for a hard line drive single to RF posting a 2-3 day with three sound plate appearances. A standout football player (WR/DB) and track sprinter on top of baseball player Starling has options for his future, but his baseball ceiling for me personally looks to be the highest going forward.

Starling was undoubtably the best athlete to take the field for either team. A three sport standout who is a dynamic football player and a track sprinter that top end athleticism makes for an intriguing baseball profile. It’s one that is more upside projection than current polish, but the tools for Starling make him a very high follow in the 2026 class. There is present bat speed (has flashed impressive raw power to pull side) with consistent feel for bat to ball in his swing path but the approach is still a bit raw and can use polish, plus I would like to see a little more leverage in his bat path which is very direct/steep at times to the ball. His top end run ability creates chaos on any ball in play which allowed him to pick up a INF single and score easily from second base on an error by the Thousand Oaks SS. He is a dynamic defender in CF with range, solid present arm that flashes strong potential with carry and accuracy to his throws. An impact defensive profile with intriguing offensive upside and athleticism oozing in the profile continue to have me high on Starling’s future as a baseball prospect.

Positional Profile: OF/LHP Top end athlete who shows CF/RF defensive potential with intriguing raw power in LH profile that has high ceiling with added element of a solid LHP foundation.
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic present build in a medium frame with wiry present strength that shows plenty of room to fill as he matures.
Delivery: Athletic mover who uses a lower knee lift with quiet hands before moving down the mound with his front leg and staying taller on his back side to allow him to get downhill and on top of his pitches. Blocks lead leg well to stay online throughout the delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Medium length arm circle with hand working below hip slightly and behind the body to hide the baseball as he works to a high 3/4 slot. Arm speed is quick with looseness through the zone and minimizes recoil after release.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. Can ride the FB at top of zone with more of a straight movement pattern that if he can velocity or better spin will play at the top of the zone. T2182, 2058 average rpm.
CB: 67-67 mph. Loopier breaking ball with downward action and horizontal movement. Will need to velocity and improve shape to either focus on vertical or horizontal pattern to play off solid spin at present. T2305, 2305 average rpm.
CH: 73-73 mph. CHG shows potential with his ability to kill spin and similar movement pattern to his FB that he can tunnel it if he develops better feel for it. T1355, 1347 average rpm.
ATH: 6.83 runner in the 60. 1.59 and 3.78 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Easy mover who builds speed explosively with easy body control and low effort speed 29.50 max vertical.

Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Athletic present build in a medium frame with wiry present strength that shows plenty of room to fill as he matures.
Hit: LHH. Wider open set up with feet and weight slightly on the rear leg with some hip hinge. Hands are set beyond the rear shoulder and front shoulder is tucked slightly closed with hands below shoulder height and low back elbow to go with some bat waggle. Small movements in his load with minimal weight shift or stride length and quiet hands. Knee sinks slightly to start the turn with quickness in his hips and some tilt to the upper body at finish as rear shoulder drives through to create leverage. Path is relatively direct with his hands and shows leverage through the zone that drives the ball in the air to pull side and LD to opposite field.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 86.8 mph. 368' max distance. Sneaky impact at the plate with high top end EVs and solid AVG. EV that gives pull gap to pull line power, but inconsistencies getting the ball in the air or finding the sweet spot limit ability to tap into it at present.
Arm: LH. OF-86 mph. Medium to short length arm circle that alternates between depth with hand to elbow leading out of the glove. Has online accuracy with strength to his throws can improve carry/accuracy to allow fielder to handle it.
Defense: Quick mover who can cover ground with his speed and shows feel for angles and ball in the air with good footwork to ground balls that has impact defensive potential.
ATH: 6.83 runner in the 60. 1.59 and 3.78 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Easy mover who builds speed explosively with easy body control and low effort speed 29.50 max vertical.
