VENTURA, CALIF. - With the 2025 CIF-High School baseball seasons coming to a close it's time for the awards and recognition season alongside the playoffs. In the last 6+ months (dating back to the start of Fall/Winter exhibition season through High School seasons end) I've had the chance to see over 70+ high school baseball games with eyes on talented players all over the Central Coast region of California down into the Northern region of Los Angeles and out into the High Desert with eyes on hundreds of 2026 uncommitted players.

All of these live looks have been documented within the various versions of Hardy's Hits and the California Scout Blog with my evaluations of the players I've had the chance to see play live. Pulling from those hundreds of uncommitted players seen across the 2026 class and those who made appearances in a  Hardy's Hits or California Scout Blog I dove into their statistical performances during their spring seasons on the High School Varsity level.

From those live looks and the statistical review I've organized these players into three separate squads (based on statistical performance, my evaluations, accounting for competition level played against and additionally accounting for future potential). While projection of the future abilities for players is accounted for in my selection process the actual statistical performance while accounting for the division at which the players high school program competes against carried more weight than future potential.

For the 2026 class I will be honoring a: First Team / Second Team / Third Team. For each team I've selected a catcher, two corner INFs, two middle INFs, three OFs, a RHP, a LHP, a DH and a Utility (two-way).

Note: This is not a ranking of the top uncommitted players in this region, but rather a recognition of the top performing uncommitted players in the 2026 class from the 2025 High School season who I've personally seen play and wrote up.

First Team:

Catcher:

+ Cole Studt Highland High School

Studt was a standout at the Central California Preseason All State event in January of 2025 and then put together a strong performance during my live look at him during Week Four of the California Scout Blog when I saw him compete against Quartz Hill High School in a Golden League showdown. Studt went on to put up a tremendous 2025 spring hitting .494 with eight doubles, three homers, drove in 27 runs while scoring 24 runs for the Bulldogs.

Corner INF:

+ Justin Gaisford Valencia High School

Gaisford was another standout at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State event and then had an electric game during a live look late in the 2025 spring season making his appearance in the Week 12 edition of the California Scout Blog. Gaisford finished his JR. campaign by posting an impressive .347 average with 3 doubles, 1 homer, drove in 10 runs while scoring 25 runs out of the two spot for the Vikings while walking as much as he struck out to spark their run to a CIF-SS playoff berth.

Corner INF:

+ Mason Trigo Buena High School

Trigo was another standout from the 2025 Central California Preseason All State who was impressive in multiple looks from the Fall of 2024 and then during the spring of 2025 where he made the California Scout Blog in Week 3 and Week 8 as the top offensive piece for the Bulldogs lineup. Trigo posted an impressive .390 average on the spring while knocking eight doubles with two triples driving in 15 runs and scoring 13 runs himself.

Middle INF:

+ Danny Pina Simi Valley High School

Pina was another standout from the 2025 Central California Preseason All State who was impressive in multiple looks first with a debut in the Hardy's Hits from December of 2024 and then again during the high school season in the Week 7 Scout Blog. Pina posted a strong season in the middle of the Pioneers lineup as the won the Coastal Canyon League title with Pina hitting .323 with five doubles, drove in 27 runs while scoring 12 runs himself.

Middle INF:

+ Hector Anaya Quartz Hill High School

I only had one chance to see Anaya play this spring, but the wiry athletic top of the order bat out of the High Desert made a strong impression on me during a game against Highland High School during Week 4 of the California Scout Blog. After my live look at Anaya he went on to have a standout spring for the Royals by hitting .364 with two doubles, two triples, drove in 15 runs while scoring 17 runs for Quartz Hill.

OF:

+ Colton Booterbaugh Highland High School

Booterbaugh was another product who I got one live look at, but the centerfielder and middle of the order bat out of Highland made a strong impression during the Week 4 look of the California Scout Blog. From there the RH hitter out of the High Desert finished the year with a .403 average including five doubles, four triples, one homer, driving in 16 runs while scoring 27 runs to power the Bulldogs offense.

OF:

+ Grant Tsuji Camarillo High School

Tsuji missed the early portion of the spring season for Camarillo as he went through the transfer sit out period (coming over from Moorpark High School), but once he was eligible to play the RH hitting CF defender made the most of three looks at him including appearing in the Week 12 version of the California Scout Blog. In the time Tsuji got hitting out of the Scorpions leadoff spot he posted an impressive .400 average with two doubles, 15 runs scored and four RBIs which undoubtedly would have been even more impressive if he had been able to play a full season.

OF:

+ Quentin McGahan Simi Valley High School

From the first at bat I saw of the dynamic McGahan the RH hitter caught my eye including an appearance in the Week 7 version of the California Scout Blog as a top of the order table setter with an interesting offensive and defensive profile. McGahan wound up posting a .365 average, seven doubles, 24 runs scored, 12 RBIs and stole 12 bases for the Coastal Canyon League champion Pioneers squad.

DH:

+ Caydin Wilson West Ranch High School

Wilson transferred into the West Ranch program late in the fall of 2024 and immediately made an impact on the Foothill League champions in their DH role. Caydin appeared in the Week 6 version of the California Scout Blog after an impressive showing against Saugus High School and was strong earlier in the spring when I saw him against Oaks Christian. For the year Wilson posted a strong .377 average, knocked two doubles, drove in 13 runs while scoring 16 runs with 10 walks on the spring.

RHP:

+ Caden Atkinson Westlake High School

Atkinson was a standout performer at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State event which was after a strong look at two-way products offensive ability noted in Hardy's Hits from a Winter Baseball tournament. While Atkinson was in consideration for a Utility spot on this team the year the righthander had on the bump for Westlake High School helping them to a Marmonte League co-championship run by throwing 46 innings striking out 38 hitters with less than 10 walks on the season posting a 2.13 ERA and winning four games puts him on the First Team at the RHP spot.

LHP:

+ Kyle Casey Simi Valley High School

Casey might not light up the radar gun with his stuff, but the southpaw ace for the Pioneers program that claimed the Coastal Canyon League title has consistently shown the pitchability to draw rave reviews. First appearing in Hardy's Hits after a Winter Ball Tournament live look and then again as a top performer at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State event and finally during a Week 7 live look in the California Scout Blog. For the spring the southpaw tossed 62 innings while striking out 63 hitters while walking just 11 hitters, winning eight games with an eye popping 1.02 ERA and a .187 opponents batting average against him.

UTL:

+ Isaiah Tillman Royal High School

Tillman has been a consistently strong performer in a variety of different live looks including a Winter Ball apperance in Hardy's Hits after a game against Notre Dame and then was a standout at the 2025 Central California Preseason All State event and then twice in the California Scout Blog during Week 1 and Week 5 on the way to his First Team Selection. Tillman had a solid year across the board although his pitching numbers jump out initially with 24.1 IP during which he punched out 39 hitters and won three games while posting an astounding 0.54 ERA for the Highlanders pitching staff in a fireman reliever role. At the plate the LH hitting OF posted a solid .262 average with three doubles, one triple, drove in 17 runs and scored 17 runs with 10 BBs (only eight Ks on the season)  while stealing four bases.
