2025 Senior Future Games: 1B Anthony Chavez (Mount Carmel, 2026) came into this week as one of the top uncommitted left-handed bats in the state and has done nothing but elevate that status. He took one of the loudest rounds of the day with a 103.8 mph peak EV, working on the barrel routinely with five balls hammered over 102 mph. His BLAST metrics were off the charts, averaging 23.7 mph for his hand-speed and 81.3 mph for his bat-speed, also averaging 27.5 G for his rotational acceleration. The hit tool is very evident, but he also features a smooth glove at first base with feel for the position and natural actions. A 6.88 runner in the 60 to pair, Chavez will be a name to circle and follow throughout the rest of the week.
6-foot-2, 207-pound, long-levered, high-waisted left-handed hitter with plenty more quality strength to come. Arrow up prospect, currently ranked No. 41 in the Illinois’ 2026 class, who posted big measurables (T107 mph exit velocity) this winter. Was on the barrel throughout the game; finished 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Opened up the scoring with a backside two-run home run to left field in the top of the first inning. Barreled a fly ball to the warning track in his second at-bat and flew out hard to right in his third at-bat. Calm in the box with fluid movement patterns. Creates easy leverage and lift in his swing. Middle-of-the-order profile who showed whole field power and mature approach. Uncommitted left-handed bat to know in the state.
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 41 in the state. 6-foot-2, 207-pound frame, long limbs with room to add more strength in the coming years. Started at first base and hit out of the leadoff spot for the Caravan, going 2-for-4 with a home run, RBI and run scored. There’s easy strength and power in his left-handed bat, showing a simple and compact swing that stays balanced through impact, showing little perceived intent. More power to dream on, put up some big EV numbers this past winter with a peak of 107 mph. High-follow uncommitted left-handed bat.
One of the best rounds of BP on the day came from 1B Anthony Chavez (Mount Carmel, 2026). Standing in at 6-foot-2, 207-pounds, the left-handed hitter has a simple and compact swing that gets extension through impact, using his levers well to create easy jump off the bat with a 107 mph peak EV (second-best of the day) while averaging 95 mph - also leading the event with a 404’ max distance. He’s a smooth mover around the bag at first base with a soft two-hand gather and fluid footwork. 7.08 runner in the 60.

Got the start at first base and hit out of the four-hole for the Caravan, finding the barrel a few times on the day. The left-handed hitter took a number of quality at-bats throughout the day, displaying a clear understanding of the zone with the ability to cover the plate. Strong hands can easily cover the top of the zone, gets his A-swing off repeatedly while staying flat through the zone. Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 65 in the state, went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored out of the three-hole for Mt. Carmel. We saw Chavez two weeks ago, and he was on the barrel more consistently in this look. The left-handed hitter had a patient, yet mature approach Monday; not chasing pitches out of the zone, and getting quality swings off on pitches in the zone. He also showed an above-average arm for the first base position before the game during I/O, playing loose and easy with carry on his throws. Chavez is another sophomore to continue to monitor for the Caravan.
Currently ranked No. 65 in the state, standing at a strong 6-foot-2, 201-pounds. Played first base and batted out of the three-hole for the Caravan, delivering the winning hit in extra-innings. Chavez has a hitterish look about him in the box standing fairly upright to start, before using a simple leg lift load. His swing works quick and direct to the ball while using a whole-fields approach. He would finish the day 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. He also hopped on the mound towards the end of the game showing some potential upside there as well. Chavez ran his fastball up to 81 mph while showing a 2/8-shaped breaker that flashed late bite.
