Senior Future Games Takeaways: Team Heartland


Illinois & Wisconsin Scouting Staff

With the 2025 Senior Future Games behind us, our staff is taking a look at all of the names from the Team Heartland roster, and highlighting their performances at the event.

Team Heartland consisted of prospects from both Illinois and Wisconsin, and finished the week an impressive 3-0. We've already released game recaps and statistical analysis stories from the event, which can be found below:

Within this Takeaways piece, our staff made mention of each player's workout day, along with their in-game perfomance.

POSITION PLAYERS 

1B Anthony Chavez (Mount Carmel, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 39 in Illinois’s 2026 class. Possessing a strong-bodied 6-foot-2, 216-pound frame, Chavez showed off some easy leverage at the plate throughout the showcase. The left-handed hitter had a loud round of BP, finishing with a max exit velocity of 104.8 mph, a 99 mph exit velocity average, and a 396-foot max distance. He carried that momentum over into Tuesday’s game play, finding a pull-side barrel to right field for a two-run home run that was 102.8 mph off the bat. Chavez would go on to finish 2-for-6 on the week, with a home run, three RBIs, two runs, two walks, and an on-base percentage of .500.

OF Patrick Connors (Hinsdale Central, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 56 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Coming in at an athletic 6-foot, 185-pound frame with premium agility present, Connors had an impressive showing during Tuesday’s testing day. The right-hander started the day out by showing off his speed, running a 6.41 sec 60-yard dash with the fourth highest max run speed in the senior workout at 22.7 mph. He followed that by staying on the barrel throughout his round of BP. He finished with a 97.6 mph max exit velocity, with a 90.2 mph average exit velocity and a 374-foot max distance. He also showed some range in the outfield throughout gameplay, with a live arm that topped out at 87 mph from the outfield on testing day. 

C Keenan Donaldson (New Trier, 2026)
Showcasing a broad-shouldered 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame with present strength throughout, Donaldson showed off quality hit and field tools throughout the weekend. The right-hander began testing day by running a 6.93 60-yard dash with a 21.3 mph max run speed. He followed that up with a loud round of BP, finishing with a 99.2 mph max exit velocity, a 92.4 mph average exit velocity and a 366-foot max distance. He also displayed quality catch-and-throw behind the dish, adding a 1.82-2.01 sec pop time with a 80 mph catcher velocity. He would continue that momentum into gameplay, consistently staying on the barrel throughout the three games. He went 3-for-7 at the plate with three singles, two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk. He was also a consistent worker behind the plate, blocking well and showing off his arm with two runners caught stealing. 

INF James Feigleson (St. Charles East, 2026)
Illinois-Chicago commit, currently ranked No. 65 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Showing off a well-proportioned 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame, Feigleson showed natural actions in the field and at the plate throughout the week. The right-hander started the testing day off by running a 6.76 sec 60-yard dash with a 21.1 mph max run speed. He proceeded to show some feel for the barrel in his round of BP, finishing with a 98.1 mph max exit velocity, a 93.9 mph average exit velocity, a 90% hard hit percentage, and a 371-foot max distance. In the fielding portion, Feigleson looked the part up the middle, showcasing a loose arm across the diamond with an 88 mph infield velocity. Feigleson finished 2-for-7 during the game portion, with two singles, two RBIs, and a walk.

OF Adam Kozak (Lockport, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 121 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Standing in at an athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame, Kozak had an impressive workout during Tuesday’s showcase day. Kozak started off the day by running a 6.57 sec 60-yard dash with a 21.8 mph max run speed. He followed that up by showing off his bat-to-ball skills in his round of BP. He finished with a 96.2 mph max exit velocity, an 88.4 mph average exit velocity, and a 363-foot max distance. He also looked the part in the outfield throughout the week, also finishing with an 83 mph outfield velocity in the showcase. 

C Andrew Satunas (Lockport, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 71 in Illinois’s 2026 class. Showing off a well-proportioned 5-foot-9, 185-pound frame, Satunas put together a quality workout during Tuesday’s testing day. The left-handed hitter put together a strong round of BP, staying on the barrel to all fields throughout his round. He finished with a 96.7 mph max exit velocity, a 90.6 mph average exit velocity, and a 361-foot max distance. Defensively, Satunas had a 75 mph catcher velocity with a 1.93-2.06 sec pop time. He also showed well defensively in game play, catching three runners stealing in Wednesday’s 8-4 win. 

C Adam Swanson (Ottawa Township, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 37 in Illinois’s 2026 class. Showcasing a 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame with some strength present, Swanson was a major winner throughout the week. Swanson showed off his agility in the workout, running a 6.42 sec 60-yard dash with a 22 mph max run speed. He followed that up with a loud round of BP, consistently staying on the barrel. He went on to have a 100.1 mph max exit velocity, a 95.4 mph average exit velocity, a 90% hard hit percentage, and a 389-foot max distance. Swanson also showed competent actions behind the dish and in the outfield. He finished with a 90 mph outfield velocity, an 80 mph catcher velocity, and a 1.81-1.93 pop time. He carried this momentum from the workout into gameplay, finishing 2-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, an RBI, three runs, and two walks.

MIF Kyle Ziebell (Harvest Christian, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 73 in Illinois’s 2026 class. Working in an athletic 5-foot-11, 171-pound frame, Ziebell was a major winner throughout the week. The right-hander flashed some speed with a 6.69 sec 60-yard dash and a 22.1 mph max run speed. He showed a whole field approach in his round of BP, finishing with a 93.9 mph max exit velocity. He also displayed sure-handed and athletic actions up the middle, with a loose arm across the diamond at an 86 mph infield velocity. He carried his strong performance into gameplay, going 4-for-8 at the plate, with a double, three singles, two RBIs, three runs, one walk, and one stolen base. Defensively, he did not commit a single error through two games. 

OF Ezra Liggon (Madison Memorial, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 7 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Showing off a twitchy, projectable 6-foot-4, 191-pound frame, Liggon was a winner during the workout and showed well in the first game. The left-hander started off the testing day by running a 6.41 sec 60-yard dash with a 22.3 mph top run speed. He followed that up by showing some easy power at the plate in BP. He finished with a max exit velocity of 101.2 mph, an 89.2 mph average exit velocity, and a 348-foot max distance. He also showed athletic actions in the outfield both in testing and in gameplay. He had a 90 mph outfield velocity in testing and threw a runner out at home in Wednesday’s 8-4 win. In the first game, Liggon went 2-for-2 at the plate with two singles and a run scored. 

INF Caleb Liggon (Madison Memorial, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 15 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Exhibiting an agile, long-levered 6-foot-4, 186-pound frame with present athleticism, Liggon was another major winner in the workout. The right-hander ran a 6.42 sec 60-yard dash with one of the highest max run speeds of the day at 22.4 mph. He continued his strong performance into BP, consistently staying on the barrel throughout his round. Liggon had six balls barreled over 96 mph, a 99.1 mph max exit velocity, a 94.8 mph average exit velocity, a 91% hard hit percentage, and a 366-foot max distance. Liggon also showed clean actions in the fielding workout, utilizing a steady glove with a strong arm across the diamond at 86 mph. He continued his strong performance into gameplay, going 2-for-3 at the plate in his last game. He finished with two doubles, two runs scored, and a stolen base. 

SS/RHP Jace Mataczynski (Hudson, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 14 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Coming in at a high-waisted 6-foot-3, 186-pound frame, Mataczynski was the biggest winner at the event, eventually going on to win MVP of the Senior Future Games. The right-hander started the week off by showing off his athleticism, running a 6.69 60-yard dash with a 20.8 mph max run speed. He then went on to have one of the louder rounds of the day in BP. He finished with a 101.5 mph max exit velocity, four balls hit over 100 mph, a 96 mph average exit velocity, and a 375-foot max distance. He also had the highest infield velocity across the diamond at 98 mph, carrying that loose arm and clean glove into gameplay. At the plate, Mataczynski finished 3-for-5, with a pull-side home run that was 103 mph off the bat, four RBIs, three runs, two walks and two stolen bases. He also went on to hop up on the mound, giving an upside look with some lively stuff. His fastball was 90-93 mph with a 17.4” IVB max, and he flashed a slider at 80 mph. He went on to toss one scoreless inning without allowing a single hit. 

OF Joseph Meeter (Holmen, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 42 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Presenting an athletic 6-foot-1, 192-pound frame with some upside, Meeter had one of the more impressive workouts during testing day. The right-hander began the day with a 6.65 sec 60-yard dash, reaching a 20.7 mph max run speed with a 30” vertical jump. He then showed easy power at the plate during the hitting portion. He finished with a 100.3 mph max exit velocity in BP, with four balls hit over 100 mph, a 94.7 mph average exit velocity, and a 353-foot max distance. He also would look the part in the outfield with a strong arm at a 91 mph outfield velocity.

OF Callen Tomsyck (Muskego, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 25 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Working in a compact 5-foot-11, 177-pound frame with some strength present throughout, Tomsyck was another one of the biggest winners from both the showcase and the gameplay. The right-hander started the testing day off by running a 6.45 60-yard dash with a 21.7 mph max run speed. He followed that up with one of the louder rounds of BP, showing off some easy whole field power. He finished with a max exit velocity of 100.4 mph, with four balls hit over 98 mph, a 95.1 mph average exit velocity, a 91% hard hit percentage, and a 327-foot max distance. He also showed steady actions in the outfield with a strong arm that topped out at 91 mph in the fielding testing. He went on to carry this strong performance into gameplay. He finished 6-for-7 on the week, with a home run, five RBIs, five runs, one walk, one stolen base, and five balls hit over 95+ mph in gameplay.

PITCHERS 

LHP Samuel Chin (St. Laurence, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 44 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Standing in at a lean, high-waisted 6-foot, 162-pound frame, Chin showed off his feel for spin in his two innings of work. His fastball topped out at 85.5 mph and maxed out at 2,400 rpm for his spin rate. He also utilized a sharp 1/7 curveball with a 2,894 rpm max and a 2,771 rpm average for the spin rate, and a fading changeup that he killed spin on at a 1,074 rpm average. The left-hander was able to settle in after his first batter, only allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

RHP Tre Cole (Champaign Central, 2026)
Displaying a twitchy, long-levered 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame, Cole was a notable winner on the mound in Wednesday’s 8-6 win. The right-hander showed off some twitchy athleticism during the testing day, running a 6.66 sec 60-yard dash with a 21.1 mph max run speed. He would continue to display that athleticism on the mound, showing body control with a live arm from a high ¾ slot. His fastball possessed life out of the hand at 87.7-90.5 mph and topping out at 91.4 mph with a max spin rate of 2,485 rpm. He also flashed a 10/4 slider that topped 82 mph with a max spin rate of 2,169 rpm, and a downer changeup at 83.2 mph. Cole would go on to secure three strikeouts with only one hit and one run allowed.

LHP Samuel Finn (Plainfield North, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 58 in Illinois' 2026 class. Presenting an imposing 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame with strength present throughout, Finn was another winner on the mound for Team Heartland. The left-hander utilized a high-spin two-pitch mix with consistent feel for the zone. His fastball played firm at 88.5-90.9 mph (T 91.4 mph), with a 2,494 rpm max spin rate and a 2,363 rpm average spin rate. He also showed a sharp 11/5 curveball at 75-78 mph with a 2,997 rpm max spin rate and a 2,799 rpm average. Finn didn’t allow a single hit or run through his two innings of work, striking out two with two walks allowed. 

RHP Ryan Harris (Stevenson, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 45 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Working in at a high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with some strength present throughout, Harris had a loud showing on the mound in Tuesday’s 7-3 win. The right-hander possessed a quality feel for spin with all three of his pitches. His fastball was 89-92 mph, topping out at 93.2 mph with a 2,607 rpm max spin rate and a 2,433 average spin rate. He also utilized a sharp 11/5 curveball at 73-75.7 mph with a 2,297 rpm max, and a 10/4 slider at 76-80.3 mph with a 2,266 rpm max. Harris only allowed one unearned run on one hit through two innings, securing a handful of swings and misses with two strikeouts.

RHP Connor McKay (Nazareth, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 92 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Possessing a high-waisted 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, McKay attacked hitters with his two-pitch mix in Team Heartland’s 8-6 win. The right-hander worked quickly on the mound to earn two strikeouts. His fastball was 87-89 mph, topping 90 mph with a 2,123 rpm max. His 10/4 slider showed out-pitch potential at 77-79 mph with a 2,181 rpm max.

RHP Alec Novotney (Marquette Academy, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 49 in Illinois’s 2026 class. Coming in at a compact 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame with athleticism present, Novotney kept hitters off-balance with his four-pitch mix, consistently working each pitch around the zone. His fastball was 86-88 mph, topping 89.1 mph with a 2,195 rpm max spin rate. He also utilized a sharp 11/5 curveball at 70-73 mph with a 2,816 rpm max, a 10/4 slider at 77-78 mph with a 2,500+ rpm average, and a downer changeup at 78-79 mph with a 17.4” max horizontal movement. He finished with two strikeouts on only one earned run. 

RHP Chase Rhodes (Tremont, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 28 in Illinois’ 2026 class. Displaying a highly projectable 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, Rhodes showed feel for his four-pitch mix in Wednesday’s 8-4 win. The right-hander worked quickly on the mound, looking to induce weak contact throughout his two innings of work. His fastball was 88-90.7 mph with a 2,276 rpm max. He also utilized an 11/5 curveball at 64-67 mph with -17” max horizontal movement, a slider at 71-73 mph with -16” max horizontal movement, and a changeup at 74-76 mph. Rhodes finished with only one hit allowed while securing one strikeout. 

RHP Tanner Effertz (Whitnall, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 20 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Presenting a strong-bodied, imposing 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame, Effertz displayed some feel for spin with his fastball-curveball combo. His fastball was 87-91 mph with a 2,430 rpm max spin rate, and a 19.3” IVB max. He also employed a sharp curveball at 72-76 mph with a 2,770 rpm max, and a -21.1” horizontal movement max. Effertz finished with only one hit and one run allowed, securing two strikeouts through his two innings of work.

RHP Cail Geiger (Menomonee Falls, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 21 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Displaying an athletic, well-proportioned 6-foot, 188-pound frame, Geiger was lights out on the mound in his two innings of work. He was able to effectively miss barrels throughout his outing, not allowing a single hit. His fastball was 89-91 mph, topping 91.4 mph with a max horizontal movement of 18.5”. He also worked in a sharp 11/5 curveball at 78-81 mph with a 2,699 rpm max spin rate, and a changeup at 82-84 mph with a max horizontal movement of 22.2”. The right-hander tossed two scoreless innings, only allowing one base runner on a walk, while also collecting two strikeouts with a 68% strike percentage.

RHP Liam Hagland (Germantown, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 60 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Standing in at a broad-shouldered 6-foot-1 frame with strength present throughout, Halgand showed some quality swing-and-miss stuff in Wednesday’s 8-4 win. The right-hander earned five whiffs across two innings, keeping hitters off-balance with his two-pitch mix. His fastball was 87-90 mph, topping 90.6 mph with a max spin rate of 2,443 rpm. He also employed a sharp, late breaking slider at 79-82 mph with a 2,868 rpm max spin rate. Hagland tossed two scoreless innings, only allowing one hit and two walks, collecting weak contact and adding a strikeout. 

RHP Luke Parkinson (Whitnall, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 30 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Displaying an athletic, long-levered 6-foot-3, 174-pound frame, Parkinson secured swings-and-misses with his lively fastball. The right-hander was able to collect six whiffs with his three-pitch mix, placing each pitch around the zone. His fastball was 85-89 mph, topping 90 mph with an IVB max of 20.4”. He utilized a sharp curveball at 68-71 mph with 2,525 rpm and -20.4” IVB max. He also flashed a changeup at 77-81 mph with mostly straight action. Parkinson tossed two scoreless innings, only allowing one hit and two walks with three strikeouts.

LHP Paxton Schuh (Kaukauna, 2026)
Currently ranked No. 26 in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. Possessing a trim 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame with strength present throughout, Schuh was able to effectively secure weak contact with his three-pitch mix. The left-hander’s fastball was 84-86 mph with a max horizontal movement of 15.8”. He also employed a 2/8 slider at 71-74 mph with a 14.4” horizontal movement max, and a changeup at 76-77 mph. Schuh bounced back in his second inning of work, working quickly to earn a 1-2-3 inning.
