RHP Dean Miller (Glenbrook North, 2026) uncommitted, ranked No. 78 overall in the Illinois class of 2026. Miller, a long-limbed, 6-foot-1, 178-pound frame, gave an intriguing look on the mound Tuesday afternoon. The right-hander works from a long, fluid rocker motion with a medium-high leg kick, coiling into the back hip. The arm works from a deceptive sidearm slot, working loose and clean. Working with a three-pitch mix, the fastball was 82-84 mph, featuring sinking action. The slider was 75-77 mph, with sharp break. The changeup was 78-79 mph, dropping off from the fastball. Throughout his outing, the slider was generating lots of whiffs, showing the ability to land all three pitches for strikes, collecting three on the day.

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 78 in the state. 6-foot-2, 175-pounds, long and loose limbs with more room to add strength. Got the start on the mound and showed a dynamic fastball and slider that has some potential. Deceptive delivery, long-levered, drop/drive and stays in-line, arm plays up and out of the glove quickly, whippy ¾ release. Creates natural sink on the fastball and sat 85-87 mph, touching 88 mph on his best bullet, control wavered a bit but he’s building up currently after not pitching for a while. The slider showed some sweeping action and occasionally backed up on him, but looks like a potential out-pitch when he gets it low and away to righties with depth, 77-78 mph.
RHP Dean Miller (Glenbrook North, 2026) stands in an intriguing 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with plenty of room for added strength. He’s a loose, athletic mover on the mound with a long, loose arm action out of a lower slot. His fastball sat 86-89 mph in this ‘pen with heavy arm-side action throughout. He showed feel for both his off-speed offerings, throwing his changeup with fastball intent while generating fade and downer action (avg. 11.9” HM; -9.0” IVB). Miller rounded out his three-pitch mix with a 76-78 mph slider that played with sharp, sweeping actions, while averaging a 2536 rpm spin rate. He came away a winner having made his Prep Baseball showcase debut in the process, and he’s established himself as an uncommitted arm-to-know.

Uncommitted. Got the start for the Spartans and showed some intrigue from the right side. Miller is a long-limbed, fluid mover down the mound with a low ¾ release. His fastball played in the 80-83 mph range with sink, while going to a 75-76 mph breaking ball that played with some downer action to it while showing some feel to spin at 2300+ rpm. He attacked the zone throughout his start, and is a sophomore to continue to monitor going forward.
