INF/RHP Eli Michanicou (Dunlap, 2027) put together quality swings from the right side against tough arms throughout the event. A lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 182-pound prospect, he has some twitch in the swing paired with quick hands and a compact bat path. He finished the event 3-for-6 with a triple and an RBI, while playing reliable defense on the infield as well. On the mound, Michanicou kept hitters off-balance with his three-pitch arsenal. The right-hander moved athletically down the mound, showing a rocker step into leg lift, with a drop-and-drive lower half, and a short ¾ arm action. Michanicou tossed two scoreless innings without allowing a hit, while also collecting three strikeouts. His fastball played with arm-side run at 81-84 mph, topping 85 mph with a max IVB of 18.8” and a max HM of 15.7” He also employed a two-plane action slider at 70-75 mph, and a fading changeup at 74-77 mph. An impressive overall performance from the two-way junior, who looks to be a key contributor to a strong Dunlap lineup.

In his outing, he racked up four innings, allowing two hits, no walks, no earned runs, and punched out five batters.

Started on the mound and hit out of the six-hole for the Eagles. The right-hander threw it well on the mound, going three scoreless with no hits or runs, walking one and striking out five. He has a simple and compact delivery with some intent and an athletic finish, pairing with a quick arm from a high ¾ release. His fastball played in the 81-83 mph range with straight four-seam action. He showed feel for a curveball at 70-74 mph, playing with 11/5 shape and depth. The right-handed hitter showed well at the plate throughout the day, finishing this game 1-for-3 with two RBIs. There’s clear strength in his bat, and he works through the zone with intent to lift and an uphill path. High-follow sophomore in the state.

Displaying a strong and athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with plenty of room for growth, Michanicou (Dunlap, 2027) contributed to Wow Factor in their 11-2 victory over Canes Indiana. The right-handed batter scored two runs and went 1-for-3 at the plate with a hard hit RBI single to left field. Mechanically at the plate, Michanicou has a wide power stance with high hands possessing a long leg kick with a compact swing, keeping his bat close to his body. Michanicou is quick out of the box and presents quality effort. Michanicou also showed well on the mound Monday morning in his semi-final game. The right-handed pitcher was sitting 79-82 mph with his fastball and 71-72 with the slider. He ended his outing after four innings allowing two runs, two walks, and five hits while striking out three. Michanicou attacked hitters and was able to generate soft contact. He had feel and command for both pitches. With the performance he had this weekend, he will be one to watch on both sides of the field.

Impressed in this look again, showing well defensively during IO with soft hands and a clean transfer with an accurate arm, showed range to both sides, too. From the right side of the plate he shows some fluidity in his load, was short to the ball with above-average bat speed through the zone. Finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. A name to know in the freshman class.

Stood out during IO with his steady, confident hands, showed range to both sides with a clean and quick transfer. At the plate he’s a right-handed hitter with a simple load, and above-average bat speed. Blasted a home run over the left field wall and finished the day 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. A name to watch in the freshman class.
Michanicou was on-base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk out of the two-hole for Wow Factor. He also impressed with his glove at second base, showing fluid and confident actions.
