RHP Evan Gardner (Lyons Township, 2027) is a built, 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame. Garder showed a high intent presence on the mound Wednesday afternoon. Working with a strong four-pitch mix, the right-hander struck out two and allowed one hit through his two innings of work. The fastball was firm, sitting lower 80s, with slight ride for the slot. The sinker was also lower 80’s, pairing well with the fastball with 13.1 inches of horizontal movement and -1 IVB. The slider was mid-70s with a sweeper profile, and the changeup was upper-70s, with cutting action. The side arm thrower in game was able to mix and match all four pitches effectively and will feel to land them for strikes. Was able to miss barrels and induce doft contact out. A high upside side-arm profile for the 2027 class.
