RHP Lincoln Boersma (Providence Catholic, 2027) is ranked No. 31 in the Illinois class of 2027. Boersma, a wiry, high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 166-pound frame, with more to come, gave a strong showing on the mound Tuesday. Striking out three over his two innings, the right-hander worked from a high-kick, drop, and drive motion, with easy and loose arm action from a lower ¾ slot. Dealing with a two-pitch mix, the fastball was sitting, 83-85 mph, T86 mph, showing lots of arm-side run, and the slider was 75-77 mph, working at the bottom of the zone with 2,500 RPM and tons of sweep. In-game, the slider was the most effective pitch, able to locate low and away, generating lots of whiffs. Giving righties trouble from a difficult slot, Boersma was able to work through hitters with ease, missing barrels and inducing weak groundballs.
Currently ranked No. 31 in Illinois’s 2027 class. Possessing a long-levered 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame, Boersma showed quality actions at the plate in Saturday’s 9-1 win. The right-hander operated out of a slightly open setup, showing loose hands that worked into a level path, with a feel for the barrel. Boersma sent a deep shot into center field for a stand-up double, finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI, and two runs scored. He also came in for one clean inning of relief, topping out at 85 mph with his fastball, and inducing weak contact with his three-pitch mix. Another strong showing from one of the top two-ways in Illinois.
RHP/INF Lincoln Boersma (Providence Catholic, 2027) impressed with his long-levered athletic frame at 6-foot, 180-pounds, showing plenty of room for added strength. His fluid and athletic movement on the mound stood out. The fastball came out clean and easy, sitting 85-86 mph, and topping out at 86.7 mph. His slider (71-73 mph) was his most effective secondary offering, showing sharp shape, while he also landed a curveball (69-70 mph) and changeup (76-77 mph) for strikes. With his combination of athleticism and pitchability, Boersma is a high-follow arm heading into the spring and summer. He also swung it well at the event; showing an easy, flat path, paired with a line drive approach from the right side.
