RHP Matthew Rogers (Plainfield South, 2026) a lean, long-limbed, 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame and gave a loud look during his outing Tuesday afternoon. Working from the stretch only, the right-hander works with a quick, short, drop-and-drive leg kick motion. Coming for the ¾ slot, the arm works short and clean, able to add late life to the ball. Rogers showed a strong two-pitch mix; the fastball was sitting upper 80s, T91 mph, with late life, and the slider was sitting 78 mph, with short, sharp break. Throughout his outing, Rogers was reality heavy on the fastball and beating hitters with it. Inducing groundballs and powering the fastball by hitters. An uncommitted arm to keep an eye out for the Illinois class of 2026.

Rogers (Plainfield, 2026) would come in relief during the 16U final this weekend, closing out the game with a multi-inning appearance of shutout baseball. The right-handed hitter came from a 3/4s arm slot and showed a fastball in the 79-83 (T84) mph range that was paired with an upper-60s-low-70s breaking ball.
A free moving and loose arm with projection as he continues to fill out. Fastball held 7-81 mph throughout the start, topping out at T82 mph with more in the tank. Intriguing right-hander to follow.
