+ Cayden Burtness, MIF (Pewaukee): Standing in at a compact 5-foot-7, 155-pounds with some twitch and athleticism in his profile. The rising junior improved his 60-yard dash time to 7.04 and features a simple approach at the plate that produced a strong round of batting practice. He has a short trigger, works his hands back and attacks the pitch with a compact, slightly uphill swing that produced a max exit velocity of 93.6 mph during his round. The bat-to-ball stood out in game, going for five hits across seven at-bats including a double. On the field, he stays light on his feet and has confident actions while attacking the ball, slowing up to recieve it in rhythm to get it out of the glove quickly.
4/17/25
Uncommitted, Burtness was hot last week, in two games, the infielder had five hits in six at bats, one walk, a double, three RBIs, and four runs in two wins against Reedsburg and Cudahy.
4/12/25
Uncommitted. Trim 5-foot-7, 150-pound frame with room for added strength in the future. Batted fifth and started at second base for the Pirates. Burtness especially stood out with his defense in this look; showing advanced and highly-athletic actions up the middle both pre-game and in-game, while pairing that with a confident glove. He also showed above-average range for the position. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a middle of the field approach and looks to keep the ball on a line. He finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk. A name to continue to follow in the state’s sophomore class.
