Wisconsin Class of 2027 Rankings: Newcomers

Wisconsin Staff

Just a couple of days ago, we made some updates to the Wisconsin 2027 Rankings after a long winter filled with preseason events and spring filled with high school games. With this update, there were plenty of notable changes with prospects rising or entering the rankings for the first time.

With that, our staff wanted to highlight some of the top risers in this recent update. There are still plenty of uncommitted names to know within the 2027 rankings, which can be found by taking a look at the complete 2027 rankings, found HERE, or click HERE to see the overall Prep Baseball 2027 Rankings.

ATHLETIC BATS

INF Patrick Davidson (Kenosha St. Joseph) debuts at No. 30 in this update, compact frame that looks as though there is still room for added strength, even after already adding about 30 pounds to his frame. The left-handed hitting infielder put together a strong sophomore campaign, hitting .435 on the season, which was good enough for the second highest batting average on the team for a talented St. Joseph squad.

From 3/12/25: “has an explosive left-handed swing that produced consistent barrel contact throughout his round of batting practice. He was up to 94 mph with his max exit velocity and showed consistent barrel awareness from a balanced swing throughout his round. In the infield, Davidson showed clean footwork working through the ball and a quick first step to both sides. His throwing arm was clean, fluid, and accurate, and the ball showed carry through the target. Davidson is a name our staff has on its radar going into the spring and summer seasons.

INF Braun Wotruba (Pulaski) debuting at No. 37 in the updated rankings, Braun Wotruba made a name for himself at the Madison Preseason ID and is a name to keep an eye on going forward. An athletic 5-foot-9, 175 pound infielder, Wotruba has a lot of power in the bat, registering a max distance of 359 feet earlier this winter, as well as also showing an ability to find the barrel consistently.

From 3/19/25: “is a strong 5-foot-9, 175-pound infielder that took a standout round of batting practice. At the plate, the right-handed reached 94 max exit velocity with a 90 mph average. Defensively, Wotruba reached 85 mph across the infield with a reliable feel to the defense to make the routine play, with the ability to make the rangy play in his back pocket. On the mound, the right-hander was to 82 mph with the fastball while showing feel to land three pitches for strikes. Our staff is convicted in the offensive profile and lean position player at this stage. Wotruba is an interesting prospect.”

INF Brady Helms (Hartford Union) in only his sophomore season, Brady Helms proved himself to be one of the leaders of Hartford’s offense and finds himself slotting in at No. 43. Helms led the Orioles with a .418 batting average in 92 PA, and the 6-foot, 174 pound infielder features athleticism and raw power that has many of us excited to see how he will continue to develop and potentially rise up the rankings.

From 3/19/25: “showed smooth actions and athleticism during the defensive portion of the event with a rangy first step laterally. He ran a quick 7.18-second 60-yard dash. At 6-foot, 174 pounds, he displayed a compact swing and consistently drove the ball to all fields. Helms projects to add size and strength as he matures and will certainly add to his raw power tool in the future.”

INF/OF Michael Petfalski (Waukesha South)

From 5/29/25: “an athletic 5-foot-7, 142-pound frame Petfalski showed his dynamic ability both with the bat and glove. The righty showcased a long quick fluid swing, able to keep the barrel thorugh the zone and find pull-side barrels. With the glove Petfalshas has quick feet that work around the ball, showing fluid transactions from glove to hand. He has a loose whippy arm mainly working from a sidearm angle. The speed was also present as he ran a 6.60 60-yard dash, placing him in the top-6 at the event.

INF Cayden Burtness (Pewaukee)

From 2/26/25: “surprised our staff with the overall athleticism and twitch in his profile while also possessing quite a bit of feel for the game. Burtness showed considerable burst off the line in his 60-yard dash and jumped one of the top marks of the day in the vertical jump at 27 inches. Burtness was 87 mph across the infield on defense with soft hands and very clean actions working through the baseball. Burtness is a name to monitor going forward.”

OF Colton Topp (Arrowhead)

From 2/26/25: “is an intriguing prospect with some upside. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete ran a solid 7.05 60-yard dash and was hitting rockets throughout his round with EVs up to 93 mph. Topp also showcased impressive athleticism and ability to get through the baseball from the outfield with a clean arm stroke with some whip. Arrow up for Topp.”

INF Will Nikolay (De Pere)

From 3/28/25: “continues to shine on both sides of the ball in front of our staff. He displayed his natural hitability with a natural hand trigger that allows him to be so short and quick to the ball with control of the barrel. His max exit velocity off the bat was 91 mph and registered an average exit velocity of 86 mph, exemplifying how often he got the barrel to and through the ball. Nikolay showed smooth actions and footwork in infield work as well. Nikolay continues to be a player who is firmly on our radar going into the spring.”

OF Boden McGourthy (Marquette University)

From 5/29/25: “Improved since our last time getting eyes on him, showing more body control in his long limbed 6-foot-2, 171-pound frame. With the bat the lefty showed barrel control with explosive hand-speed with a high of 25.2 mph and a quick bat able to help generate lots of pop leading to a 90.1 mph average exit velocity. In the outfield he works with his momentum and direction through the target with long strides. As he counties toe grow and develop, McGourthy will be an interesting name to follow in the Badger State.”

IMPACT TWO-WAYS

INF/RHP Charlie Wronski (Marquette University)

From 3/28/25: “is a strong 5-foot-11, 196-pound two-way prospect inside the state’s sophomore class. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed feel to drive the ball in the air with authority, reaching 96.7 mph exit velocity. In the field, Wronski has a pair of soft hands and steady actions to pair with a strong and accurate arm up to 89 mph across the diamond. On the mound, Wronski showed the ability to repeat his delivery and to locate his arsenal in the zone. The fastball plays in the mid-80s with life out of the hand to pair with two breaking balls and a developing changeup.”

OF/RHP Garrett Smith (Hortonville)

From 3/04/25: “came away as a must-follow from the event. The wiry and long levered 6-foot-3, 173-pound athlete impressed throughout the day on both sides of the ball. At the plate, from the left-side Smith took a standout round of BP, consistently on the barrel throughout, making contact out front, leveraging the ball in the air, reaching a 93.7 mph max exit velo throughout his round. Defensively, Smith is a confident defender with arm strength up to 89 mph from the outfield with natural actions. On the mound, Smith showed feel for a quality three-pitch mix. A lively fastball that got up to 86.9 mph with life out of the hand, with feel to spin a bigger downer breaking ball off of it, as well as showing feel to locate a changeup in the zone. There’s a lot of upside on the two-way athlete, especially once he starts to mature and fill into his frame. A must-follow athlete in the Badger State’s 2027 class.”

OF/RHP Cooper Haas (Brookfield East) debuts at No. 61 and shows promise as a two-way talent. Standing at 6-foot, 173 pounds, Haas’ athleticism was on display at the West Milwaukee Preseason ID when he clocked in a 6.83 60-yard dash. Haas possesses a strong feel for a 3-pitch mix on the mound and repeatable power potential the plate, highlighted by a 90.4 average EV and a strong feel for the barrel while at West Milwaukee.

From 2/26/25: “Quite possibly took the biggest stride forward of anyone at the event with his performance on Sunday. Haas came in and added considerable size and strength to his frame. He measured at 6-foot, 173 pounds, and there is more strength and fill coming to his athletic frame. He started his day by running an impressive 6.83 seconds 60-yard dash, which is a considerable improvement from last year (7.51 seconds in 2024). The junior two-way prospect then took a loud round of batting practice, which produced a max exit velocity of 94 mph from a repeatable and compact hand path. From the outfield, Haas pulled down 88 mph, which was near a top mark for the event. On the mound, Haas featured a 3-pitch mix with a fastball up to 82 mph, a sharp 12/6 top to bottom curveball, and feel for a change-up that he keeps low in the zone. Haas definitely put himself on the map and has made himself a name to know in the state.”

INF/LHP James Radabaugh (Waunakee) a two-way talent that possesses a strong, 6-foot-1, 207 pound frame and finds himself at No. 63 in our updated rankings. We saw him put on an impressive round of batting practice earlier this year at the Madison Preseason ID, where Radabaugh was finding the barrel consistently with a smooth lefty swing and an 88.9 average EV. On the mound, Radabaugh throws with ease out of an overhand slot, with potential for more added velocity going forward.

From 3/19/25: “This was our staff’s second viewing of 1B/OF James Radabaugh (Waunakee, 2027) and he opened some eyes in this viewing. Radabaugh put together an impressive round of batting practice and reached 92 mph with his max exit velocity, with an impressive 88.9 mph average exit velocity, which was tied for 5th out of 130 players. Radabaugh hit with a smooth, free, and easy left-handed swing and showcased feel for the barrel. Radabaugh is an interesting prospect, and our staff will monitor his progression going forward.”

RHP/INF Alex Johnson (Eau Claire Memorial)

From 2/19/25: “measured at an athletic and wiry strong 6-foot, 159 pounds. We were impressed with the swings Johnson was taking with a balanced and centered move to the hitting position. Johnson hits with a very quiet head, quick hands, a flat path, and is always behind the baseball, using leverage to drive the ball to all fields. In the infield, Johnson was 81 mph across the infield, and his quick first step and soft hands indicate that he is likely to be able to stick on the left side. On the mound, Johnson was up to 84 mph with his downhill fastball from a high 3/4 slot. He complemented the fastball with a slider and fading change-up that he displayed the ability to land in the zone. Overall, it was another solid day from Johnson, and he continues to be someone our staff is excited about.”

RHP/INF Ayden Schneble (Wisconsin Lutheran)

From 3/28/25: “is a projectable framed two-way who demonstrated considerable ability to impact the baseball from a smooth and fluid left-handed swing. He produced hard contact throughout his round. On the mound, Schneble was up to 79 which set up his change-up and slider out of the same window. Schneble is an interesting follow.

UPSIDE ARMS

RHP Taylor Rampetsreiter (Brookfield Central) projectable with room for added strength and finds himself at No. 32 in the updated rankings. Rampetsreiter features one of the more lively fastballs in the class, topping out at 88 mph with a quality feel for spin, averaging 2200 RPMs. Rounding out his arsenal with a sweeping SL and CH with heavy sink, the rising junior features an advanced arsenal that has us excited to see him continue to develop.

From 3/12/25: “possesses long levers and a projectable 6-foot-1, 172-pound frame. The righty’s fastball topped out at 88 mph and displayed sinking action. He complimented his fastball with a heavy-breaking slider that showed sweeping action, as well as a heavy-sinking changeup that mimicked his fastball. Rampetsreiter has an easy and balanced delivery that he is able to repeat consistently. It was one of the best pitching performances we saw all day. With the bat, the right-handed hitter was all over the barrel with his downhill swing and registered exit velocities in the low 90’s consistently throughout his round. He was 87 mph from the outfield and also ran a 7.19 seconds 60-yard dash and jumped 26 inches in the vertical jump (4th highest in the event), showing off his overall athleticism. Overall, it was a great day for the Brookfield Central sophomore.”

RHP Maddux Hermus (Kimberly) has been dominant for Kimberly stepping in as one of the top arms in the program in his sophomore year, pitching to the tune of a 1.08 ERA in 32.1 innings. Hermus shows a feel for an advanced four-pix mix with a fastball that topped out at 86 at the Green Bay Preseason ID, and finds himself at the No. 33 spot in the updated rankings.

From 3/04/25: “is a strong 5-foot-10, 189-pound two-way athlete that is also a standout on the football field. Hermus made his way onto Kimberly’s varsity squad midway through his freshman year and looked like an improved version in our latest look at him. On the mound, Hermus showed feel for his four-pitch mix, his fastball plays in the mid-80s, topping out at 86 mph with slight cutting action. Hermus showed the ability to throw two different breaking balls, a 10/4 curveball in the low-70s and a mid-70s two-plane slider. Rounding off his arsenal, Hermus showed an upper-70s changeup that plays with depth off the fastball. Also an athlete, Hermus ran a 6.85 60-yard dash to start his workout as a position player. At the plate, from the right-side Hermus took a loud round of BP, looking to elevate to the pull side with leverage out front. Defensively, Hermus is a confident defender with sure hands and a quick transfer, and an accurate arm up to 84 mph.”

RHP Lucas Weber (Whitnall) finds himself at No. 35 in the updated rankings with one of the more lively pitch-mixes in the class, highlighted by a 2500 RPMs sweeping slider that sits in the mid 70s. We have seen him hit 87 with the FB at the Milwaukee Preseason ID earlier in the year, and the 5-foot-9, 168 pound rising junior is an arm to keep an eye on going forward.

From 3/28/25: “measured at a well-proportioned and strong 5-foot-9, 168 pounds. The sophomore put together an extremely impressive bullpen session. Weber ran the fastball up to 87 mph (86 mph avg), spun a slider with 2,500 RPMs with a big horizontal sweeping break at 76 mph, and rounded out his arsenal by showing feel for a changeup, providing a solid three-pitch mix. Weber has a high ceiling due to the fact that he has smooth delivery with a quick arm and more room in his frame to get bigger and stronger. Arrow way up for Lucas Weber after Saturday’s performance.”

RHP Anthony Sirocchi (Westosha Central)

From 3/12/25: “was one of the biggest winners of the day on the mound. Sirochi, an athletic and explosive right-hander through the delivery was up to 88 mph from a high 3/4 slot with serious arm quickness. The fastball averages 18.5 inches of IVB, which displays quite a bit of carry through the top of the zone. The average fastball of 86 mph has jumped from last time we viewed him in a showcase setting from 79 mph. He paired the fastball with a two-plane breaking curveball at 75 mph and feel for a change-up at 74 mph. Arrow way up for the sophomore from Westosha Central.”

RHP Michael Suokko (Westosha Central)

From 3/12/25: “Last time we saw in showcase was throwing 67 mph fastballs 2 years ago in 2022. He’s up to 87 mph with a downhill angle. The breaking ball is developing, but on the come and the change shows fade and depth at the plate. 6-foot-4 long lanky with plenty of room to add.”

LHP Drew Stettbacher (Horace Mann)

From 3/28/25: “would show well in his bullpen on Sunday. The left-handed arm worked from an uptempo, rhythmic delivery while slinging it from a low 3/4s slot with a quick arm that generated fastballs in the low-80s (T84). Also showed an upper-60s curveball with big lateral sweeping shape and an upper-60s-low-70s changeup with late fade and depth. Must know name in the emerging Wisconsin 2027 class. 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame.”

RHP Rhett Lamovec (Loyal)

From 3/28/25: “would show an intriguing two-way profile on Sunday, one that should make him a must-know name in the emerging 2027 Wisconsin class. The right-handed arm would show intentful actions throughout his bullpen, with a quick arm and high 3/4s release. The fastball would sit 85-87 (T88) with late two-seam tailing action and was thrown alongside a mid-to-low-70s 10/4 curveball and an upper-70s changeup with late depth and fade. The Loyal product would also take a quality round of BP (T98.3 EV), showing quick, twitchy hands and an ability to leverage the ball out front. Strong and lengthy 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame with remaining physical projection.”

LHP Sam Bresina (Chippewa Falls)

From 2/19/25: “is a wiry and long levered south paw who opened some eyes on Saturday. Bresina is listed at 6-foot, 125 pounds with tons of room to fill out and add more mass and strength. When synced up, Bresina created all kinds of whippy arm speed through the baseball from a low 3/4 slot. He was able to drive the low 80’s heater with late running action through areas of the zone and showed the ability to angle it to cross corners effectively. He deployed a two-plane tilted curveball that he was able to land and a slider that had more lateral sweep to the pitch, which he was also able to land. The lefty also showed an advanced feel for a late fading change-up in the zone for strikes and out of the zone for chase. Overall, it was an impressive look at the sophomore, and it certainly wouldn’t surprise anyone if you looked up in two years and saw Sam Bresina’s name near the top of the 2027 class rankings as he develops physically.”

RHP Owen Rueland (Appleton North)

From 3/01/25: “opened some eyes with the performance he put forth in the bullpen on Saturday. On the mound, Reuland drove his four-seam fastball up to 85 downhill through areas of the zone and deployed a late running two-seamer to go with it. He showed the ability to land a breaking ball with a 10/4 type shape and break. The change-up was the real secondary weapon from Reuland. It showed nasty late running life to the arm side and was thrown with fastball intent. It was an impressive look overall on the bump. It shouldn’t be overlooked that Reuland also had a nice day working out as a position player. He produced line drive contact throughout his round with a max exit velocity of 93 mph, which is a solid number for the sophomore two-way talent. The long levered projectable righty definitely has some upside, and our staff will be tuned into what’s to come this spring for Reuland.”

RHP Colton Multerer (West Bend East)

From 3/28/25: “delivered his heater 84-86 mph with consistent carry and life through the zone. He paired the fastball with a sharp 12/6 breaker and a change-up thrown with fastball intent with late fading action through the zone. It was a very intriguing look from Multerer on the mound. With the bat, the sophomore registered a solid 91.5 max exit velocity with a short and handsy swing that creates low line drive contact consistently through the middle.”

RHP Blake Ulezekski (Oak Creek)

From 3/28/25: “was up to 86 mph with a repeatable delivery and repeatable arm slot and showcased some late running action with the heater to set up the rest of the arsenal. The curveball demonstrated hard and sharp two-plane biting action that he can land in and below the zone. His changeup is thrown with fastball intent at 78-79 mph, which rounded out his three-pitch mix. Arrow up for Blake Ulezelski.”
