Parkside commit Joe Soukko had a quality week on the bump and at the plate. Offensively, Suokko had four hits in ten ABs including two doubles and three RBIs. On Thursday, drove in the game-winning run with a double in the bottom of the 8th inning to beat Union Grove. On Friday, the left-hander threw a complete game shutout to finish the sweep of Union Grove striking out eight, allowing only three hits and no walks in seven innings of work.
Wisconsin-Parkside recruit, currently the No. 71st ranked player in the state’s senior class, listed at a front 6-foot-4, 201 pound frame. Suokko had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with multiple hits. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with a runner on base, he delivered a walk-off single to center field. Defensively, he was agile at first base, not letting anything get past him.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, the southpaw has some deception in his delivery and arm angle, producing a fastball with heavy run/sink at 84-85 mph. His curveball spun at over 2,300 rpm at times, playing at 72-74 mph with sweeping action which he landed for some strikes. His final offering was a heavy fading changeup with over 16” of run at times at 77-78 mph with feel for the zone.
