A recent Army football commit, O’Grady would showcase a quality toolset throughout the weekend, showcasing athleticism and strength that would consistently play up on both sides of the ball. At the plate showcased a twitchy right-handed swing and a present feel for the barrel. Finished the weekend 4-for-10 with two doubles, and RBI, four runs scored, and four walks. 5-foot-11, 194-pound frame with present strength and athleticism.
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 12 in the state. Strong and athletic frame, standing at 5-foot-11, 193 pounds. Patrolled centerfield and hit three-hole for the Badgers, taking strong at-bats throughout the day finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a home run and a stolen base. One of the top athletes in the state, with continued development at the plate over the year. The left-handed hitter was consistently on the barrel throughout four at-bats, driving the ball with authority while only swinging and missing once in the zone. Defensively, O’Grady Jr. has been one of the top defenders in the state with easy range and speed that play up in game with arm strength to pair.
+ OF Matthew O’Grady (Badger, 2026) is an explosive athlete, a two sport standout on the gridiron and on the baseball field. He backed up his stellar reputation with some loud numbers on Sunday. First, with his feet. O’Grady ran a blistering 6.60 seconds 60 yard dash and jumped the highest vertical of the day at 27.8 inches. Next, with the bat he hit with a smooth and compact right-handed stroke with balance and a controlled move through the ball. The junior outfielder's max exit velocity of 102 mph was third best of the event and demonstrated how much easy raw pop he has. Finally on defense, the outfielder can play all three spots effectively and demonstrated considerable arm strength up to 90 mph which was the second best mark of the day from the outfield. O’Grady remains uncommitted currently, but wherever he lands, he has the potential to be a difference maker to a line up and to a defensive unit with how impressive the tool set is.

OF Matthew O’Grady Jr.’s (Badger, 2026) in-game success and high-level athleticism earned him national recognition in 2022 where he thrived at the PBR Junior Future Games for Team Wisconsin, eventually landing a place on the initial national ‘26 rankings. He added significant strength in the offseason, listed at 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, with an impact run tool, as a sub-7.00 runner who reached a 19.9 mph top speed in the 60-yard dash – both elite for a freshman. Offensively, a right-handed hitter, O’Grady has a twitchy strength in his hands and wrists, and he laced multiple line-drives to both gaps during BP and his best batted ball traveled 353 feet, which was the second farthest of the showcase. The ease with which he runs, plays the outfield, equipped with arm strength (84 mph high), and gets to that same strength in the batter’s box keeps his future very bright as a member of the state’s blossoming 2026 class.

At an athletic, twitchy and projectable 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, O’Grady really made himself known to our staff at The Rock and at the Junior Future Games this past summer. There, O’Grady showed off his impressive raw tool set. O’Grady is an effortless runner, running a 6.86 time in the 60-yard dash, and he can use his speed both on the bases and to cover a lot of ground in center field. He has a short, compact right-handed stroke with the ability to spray the ball to both gaps. O’Grady’s natural athleticism helps him profile as a center fielder with bat-to-ball skills and blossoming strength that can improve his profile that much more.

Level bat path to contact, line drive approach, sprays to all fields, scrappy-type competitor in the box.
