In a day of baseball loaded with talented players on each roster from both JSerra and Notre Dame the youngest player on the field may have stolen the show for me. Hitting in the leadoff spot and manning CF the advanced athletic ability with solid present wiry strength showed up in a variety of different ways. At the plate he collected a pair of singles (line drive rocket to LF / INF single in 2K count), drew a walk and then used his top end run speed (4.05 - 4.2 H-1B speed) to force an error from the Lions 3B and came around to score. The swing has intriguing present bat speed with consistent bat to ball in the profile which projects to add power as he learns to tap into the leverage in his bat path against varsity level pitching. On the defensive side it was impressive performance in CF showing range to both sides and ability to come in/go back on the ball that profiles as an impact defender and he adds a potential impact throwing arm which showed up on a pair of strong throws with accuracy in game. In the first inning he uncorked a strong online throw home which barely missed recording an out at the plate on a bang bang play and then followed it up later in the game with a similar throw to third base with another bang bang play. It’s easy to see why the talented RH hitting CF is in a prominent spot for the strong Notre Dame program and will be a must see player for college programs in the near future, plus potentially MLB scouts down the road.
