This is a profile that just continues to grow on me with each live look (my third in the last three months) especially on the offensive side of the game. Hitting towards the back of a lineup littered with SR. talent. Spahr has shown well in his first season on the varsity level playing in eight of the Cougars 10 games this far with a current .250 average over 20 at bats with one RBI and three runs scored. I’ve been impressed with the consistency of Spahr’s ability to get his bat on the baseball in each of my looks at him with a quick compact RH swing that works the middle to pull side of the field showing more leverage in the path than loft, but plays to his table setter profile as an offensive piece. Honing in on his approach at the plate, Spahr does a strong job of controlling his load and is consistently in good position to hit on time or early, allowing him to make quality swing decisions and put the bat on the baseball. He collected a pair of hits while showcasing his ability to play the small game with a clean BH bunt single to the 3B side which he showed his ability to run and then went first to third on a single by Nelson to RF. On a team full of older talent Spahr has me intrigued to continue following his development over the coming years with the Cougar program.

The RHH offensive profile for Spahr continues to grow on me in my second lengthy look at the rising name out of Ventura High. Now with seven at bats over two games he has collected three hits with five hard hit baseballs from a compact swing with more of a line drive-based path which plays to the middle of the field. Power shows mainly doubles at present but has plenty of room to add strength to profile as he matures. I’ve seen him play CF/LF looking comfortable at both but has athleticism and the background to potentially play the INF in the future.
