Future Games Tryout: Malibu - Catcher Analysis

On Saturday, May 31st, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the Future Games Tryout: Malibu at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-27), and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.
Nearly 40 players made their way to Pepperdine University this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball California staff.
Today, we will be looking at the top measurable data performers from the event, found below.
TOP CATCHERS
1. Evan Rodriguez, Simi Valley High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: C/OF Athletic and projectable C/OF with advanced footspeed, a level all-fields swing, and quick catch-and-throw ability behind the plate.
Body: 5-10, 165 pounds. Athletic with room to fill out. Projectable.
Hit: RHH. Relaxed, slightly open, quiet load on back side, rhythmic stride, heavy core action. Short path to ball, heavy barrel, hits to all fields, stays level. 63.8 mph bat speed with 12g of rotational acceleration.
