In what was a breakout performance for the Bakersfield based product Quintero used the showcase workout to announce his presence before shining throughout the gameplay portion. The shortstops defensive workout was one of the most impressive of the day with clean, smooth actions that have a natural grace to them while putting 85 MPH INF velocity throws right on the 1Bs chest from all different angles/arm slots. A loose mover all over he clocked a present 7.3 range 60 time which will improve as he adds strength to his lengthy 6' 147 lbs. frame that has grace in everything he does on the baseball field. His batting practice was impressive for the simplicity and consistency of his operation while producing intriguing present metrics. The RH hitter has a smooth swing with present hand speed and bat speed (21.4 MPH hand speed and 70.1 MPH bat speed) while a natural feel for being on time with his barrel at contact. Quintero posted a max exit velocity up to 95.6 MPH while averaging 90.1 MPH throughout his round with a 67% hard hit rate and a 349' max distance. The well rounded profile for Quintero is intriguing not just for its present performance during the workout, but even more so for the upside it presents as he fills his frame out with strength.
Jacob Quintero, Ridgeview High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/3B Athletic, high-upside MIF with projectable tools on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Body: 6-0, 148-pounds. Long, lean build with wiry strength. Frame has plenty of room to add good weight while maintaining fluid athleticism.
Hit: RHH. Sets up with a slightly wider stance and relaxed posture, staying upright through the torso. Hands sit deep above the back shoulder with the barrel angled toward third base. Uses a toe-tap trigger to start the move forward while the upper body loads into the rear hip. Hands and barrel work in sync as he creates separation, allowing the hips to fire with intent. Shows a direct, efficient path through the zone and finishes with a subtle upward tilt. 67 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 90.1 mph. 349' max distance.

Vizual Edge: 49.41 Edge Score
Arguably the biggest breakout performer of the event Quintero is sure to see his profile rise immensely come the next rankings update for Prep Baseball California. Already appearing in the Workout Warriors Quick Hits the Bakersfield based SS proved his tools play as good if not even better during games as they do in workouts. Defensively, Quintero manned both SS and 2B over the course of three games at PK Park and looked very comfortable while moving with confidence on every ball in his area when he was on defense. His actions projected a potential impact defender and the way he played in game showed he is not far off from reaching this profile. At the plate the strong metrics he produced during the workout quickly translated into game play when during his first at bat Quintero uncorked on a drive over the centerfielders head for a triple which would not be the last ball he stung over his two games on the PK Park field. He would lace a hard drive down the RF line which was bound for another potential triple before an acrobatic highlight reel play from the opponents RF turned it into an out. Jacob controlled each at bat with confidence, made quality swing decisions, displayed bat to ball with consistent barrel feel that all add up to a very strong present approach. In his final trip to the plate at PK Park with runners at 2nd/3rd and no outs he got to a 2K count before staying on a breaking ball away to hammer a groundball up the middle that drove in the runner from 3rd and advanced the runner from 2nd to 3rd (would score on the next hitters SAC Fly). The entirety of the weekend for Quintero made him a name that is going to be a highly followed 2028 out of California in the coming year.
