MIF/RHP Kameron Cox (Montini Catholic, 2028) continues to look like one of the top infield prospects in the young 2028 group. The actions are advanced for his age with fluidity and clear feel for the position. His footwork is clean yet athletic with a quick first step and accurate angles to the baseball, pairing with soft and confident hands. His arm plays with a quick and athletic release that gets rid of the baseball quickly and with accuracy. At the plate, showcased a line-drive oriented right-handed path with whole-field intent and some present feel for the barrel. Took an impressive round of batting practice, producing a max exit velocity of 93.9 mph and an average of 89.8 mph while sporting a perfect sweet spot rate. On the mound, Cox showed a three-pitch mix running his fastball up to 84 mph with life through the zone (max 19.6 IVB). Mixed in a curveball with short, horizontal break at 65-69 mph. MIF/RHP Kameron Cox (Montini, 2028) continues to look like one of the top rising sophomores in the state. The right-handed hitter has an athletic swing with a gap to gap approach, working on the barrel to the whole field with a peak EV of 91 mph. He’s an advanced defender with clear feel for the position, confident/soft hands with fluid footwork, crisp/clean transfers, range to both sides of his glove. His arm also looks to be able to stick on the left side of the infield, topping at 84 mph with a quick and clean release. He also hopped on the mound and gave a brief but loud look, topping at 84 mph with the fastball.
MIF Kameron Cox (Montini, 2028) looked to be one of the more interesting infield follows on the day. At the plate, the right-handed hitter took a quality round with polish and feel to use the whole field, looking to stay on top of the baseball and keep it on a line (T91 mph EV). Defensively, Cox continues to look the part for our staff. An athletic mover with a confident glove and rangy actions, he looks like he could stick up the middle for years to come.

Cox would have a quality showing on Saturday, as the Top Tier shortstop would go 3-for-4 with a double & two runs scored. A recent attendee of the 2024 Junior Future Games, Cox would continue to show a collection of tools that leave him as a must-follow in the emerging 2028 class. The Montini Catholic product’s gameplay is highlighted by a confident presence on the diamond. His advanced instincts and baseball IQ translated on both sides of the ball, with his baserunning aggressiveness & awareness standing out. Defensively, he showed bouncy, athletic actions on the dirt with fluid footwork. At the plate, the right-handed hitter presents a slightly open setup, crouched into his legs before launching back to an even position that allows him to stay athletic throughout his swing with a line drive approach. MIF Kameron Cox (Montini) will be a name to follow throughout his prep career. The right-handed hitter has a simple swing that works to stay up the middle of the field with a flat path. He’s a natural defender on the dirt, boasting soft hands, fluid footwork and athletic actions. His arm plays well across the diamond too, showing the ability to deliver accurate strikes on the move and from multiple angles.
Cox, exhibiting a proportionally athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame, had several productive and clutch at-bats going 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, and two RBI pull-side single out of the leadoff spot in Top Tier Americans’ 15-7 victory Thursday. Offensively, he showcased game altering plate discipline and gap to gap power. Mechanically, displayed a quarter turn open stance, medium leg kick, forceful hip torque, connected back arm, and steady head at the point of contact. Defensively, he has soft hands, above average arm side range, and a positive feel for flip and footwork speeds on double plays. An overall impressive set of skills with room for further development.

MIF Kameron Cox (Montini, 2028) had a strong day both in showcase and in-game. He took quality at-bats throughout the game, finishing with a sac fly and a single. Once he reached base he showcased his speed, stealing second and then third. Advanced defender for his age, soft hands work out front and secure the ball into his body, plays with rhythm and timing through the ball.

INF Kameron Cox (Lyons Township, IL, 2028) put together one of the top offensive performances from the entire tournament. On Friday, Cox tallied a 2-for-2 day to drive in a team-high three runs, and he also scored two runs, too. Then in Top Tier Americans’ second game on Saturday, he helped them to a close 5-2 win, with a one-hit, three-RBI performance. On Sunday, in his first game of the day, he tallied four hits in five at-bats to drive in one to help Top Tier move on to the Championship game.
Jay Baird (N/A), Quincy Fulton (Newton), Kameron Cox (Lyons Township) and Gavin Jones (Bishop McNamara) are a few 2028s that showed well and should be names to watch in the coming years.
