Head went 7-for-13 (.538) with one home run, two doubles, six RBIs, and five runs scored. He recorded two stolen bases and is tied for the team lead with nine hits this season.
Uncommitted. Currently the No. 1 ranked player in the state, No. 20 nationally. 6-foot, 160-pound frame, high-waisted and lean build, room to add strength in the coming years. Started at shortstop and hit out of the leadoff spot for No. 23 Lane Tech, finishing the day 2-for-5 with an RBI, four runs scored and a walk. Advanced instincts overall, natural defender at short with clear feel for the game and situational awareness, high-level actions with plenty of arm-strength, utilizes proper angles and timing, range to both sides, quick release with carry and accuracy, will be able to stick on the infield long-term. Loose, upside right-handed swing, narrow setup with a controlled forward move, tight turns with a flat path and length through the zone. Showed advanced barrel control with minimal swing/miss, handles velocity well and was able to get to upper-80s at the top of the zone, advanced knowledge of the strike zone with confident takes. Hopped on the mound to close it out, attacking primarily with a fastball that sat right at 88 mph throughout, ranging 87-89 mph, life and carry through the zone for swing/miss. Flashed a sharp two-plane curveball in the low-70s, fooled hitters and got ugly takes. Athletic mover, syncs up well while working in-line, explosive arm-speed from a high ¾ slot. Top-end national talent.
Putting together an impressive day overall was INF/RHP Paris Head (N/A, 2029). Head measures in at an athletic 5-foot-8, 140-pounds with upside. Head started the event off with a bullpen where he showed the ability to spin the ball at an advanced rate for his age, as well as fill the zone with his two-pitch mix. The right-handed hitter has a simple swing that stays short and direct through the zone with line-drive feel and a middle of the field approach. He also put together a smooth defensive workout, showing easy and highly-athletic actions up the middle for his age, paired with a loose, clean and accurate arm.
