RHP Will Pennell (Sacred Heart-Griffin, 2026) was a big winner from the event, now committed to Lincoln Land CC. He showed feel for all three pitches in the outing, headlined by a high spin (avg. 2533 rpm, T2727) slider at 71-74 mph with sweeping action that induced plenty fo swing and miss. His fastball played at 80-83 mph (T84) with armside run, while completing his mix with a 77-79 mph changeup with sink. Pennell would go on to punch out five batters over the course of his two innings of work.

At 6-foot-3, 1991-pounds, there is a lot of projectability within Pennell’s frame and he has a quality four-pitch mix to go with it. His delivery is compact and controlled, using his frame to gain ground down the mound and throws out of a ¾ slot. He attacked hitters with a low 80s fastball (T83), as well as a pair of breaking balls: a slider in the 71-75 range and a curveball in the 69-70 range. He also flashed a changeup that was clocked at 76. An uncommitted name to know as he heads into his senior year.

Started on the mound in the State Championship game, tossed 4.2 innings, struck out five, walked two, allowed no earned runs and five hits. Loose and easy mover, high leg lift with tuck, drop/drive down the mound. Long, easy arm path that worked out of a ¾ slot. Fastball sat low-80s and worked up to 85 mph. Change-up looked like the best off-speed offering in this look, sitting 75-78 mph with fade, produced swing-and-miss. Rounded out arsenal with a low-70s curveball, played with 11/5 shape. Uncommitted arm to know heading into the summer.

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 212 in the state. Stands in at 6-foot-3, 191 pounds. Pennell battled adversity and put SHG in a position to win on a poor defensive showing. Offered a look at a low 80s fastball (T83), as well as a mid-to-high 70s changeup with heavy fade, as well as a slider with horizontal action. Athletic mover on the mound with a high leg lift with tuck at balance, works into a tall and fall delivery down the mound, foot lands slightly open. Loose, whippy arm action that worked out of a ¾ slot. Fastball worked in the low-80s and was up to 84 mph. Pennell also mixed in a change-up that sat 76-77 mph and a curveball at 70-71 mph.

He impressed on the mound with his clean, loose actions down the mound with minimal effort throughout. His fastball sat 79-81 mph with ride through the zone, and a slurve with 10/4 shape, showing feel to throw it for strikes.
