VA/DC Class of 2025 Rankings: Top 50

For the second time in 2024, the 2025 class receives a rankings update. While the class will not expand from it's place at 225, there has been a large amount of movement after a full high school season of player evaluation. 

    • The top three remaing the same while Donavan Jeffrey moves up one spot. Until his unfortunate injury this spring, the Miami commit was really taking off at the plate. It is a fluid, clean path with advanced bat speed and the ability to hit for average, as well as some power. The Future Games alum should be back rolling again at some point this summer (probably late). 
    • Ethan Ball makes a climb five spots up to #12 after really showing well at the plate this spring. Four homeruns on the season displaying some of his added strength, but it is the pure stroke from left side that has allowed for this climb. In our multiple looks this spring, the Hokies commit has done a nice job controlling the strike zone and is aggressive inside of that strike zone. Bounce back season for Ball.
    • Caden Merritt also makes a move up inside of the Top 25 after an impressive spring. The VMI commit has always had the physical makeup piece with some above average tools, but it is his ability to impact the baseball that has taken a step forward this spring. In addition to his added offensive abilities, Merritt has made some jumps on the mound as well. 

    • There are some arms near the front end of this class that have not "separated" themselves, but Myles Upchurch and Noah Yoder are not part of that grouping. Upchurch continues to build on his starter profile, showing advanced feel for 3+ pitches. Pair that with the physical makeup, cleaner delivery, and current velo, the Alabama commit has the highest current profile value of any arm in this VA/DC class. Sitting right behind Upchurch is Duke commit, Noah Yoder. While Upchurch possesses more pitchability, command, and repeatability on the mound, Yoder has the best pure stuff in this class. The fastball quality is highly regarded, as well as his ability to hold 91-94 deeper into outings. While the breaking ball command and ability to start strong out of the gate can be inconsistent at times, Yoder has shown a power breaking ball that has above average future potential, as well as the ability to absolutely take over a game once he gets settled in.
