Semler's Prospects to Follow: 5.13-5.18

Max Semler
North Texas Scouting Director

Over the course of the season, North Texas Scouting Director, Max Semler, has been out scouting some of the top prospects in the Lone Star State. Semler has served as an area scout for four major league teams spanning the last 30 years and now joins the Prep Baseball Texas Staff. Today, we look at some of Semler's reports on the prospects to follow that he saw last week during the playoffs.

High Follow: scout this player. Present tools are there, he can enter pro ball and hold his own.

Low Follow: some present tools with a lot of projection or with college players limited upside. This does not mean this player is not a prospect, not a priority look to start the year.

Pocket Follow: no carrying tool presently to go out and play professionally or at a Major D1 program. But, does things on the baseball field that attract your attention. This type of player needs strength, needs to mature physically or with a pitcher…velocity needs to take a jump.

Garret Ticer 2B / Central Catholic, TX / 2025

Pocket Follow

Strengths: Good physical build/frame for adding strength. Athleticism present. Shows ability to handle bat. Line drive contact. Loads fine, hands in good position to launch. Moves well. Defends well in OF, avg arm future.

Weakness: Secondary pitch recognition, struggled to stay back on stuff with spin.

Summation: Like the build/frame for future strength. Athleticism present. Track balls well in OF. Line drive contact, was able to handle barrel. Must develop pitch recognition for success. Should get a lot of looks from colleges this summer.
