Fort Worth Summer ID: Player Analysis

On Tuesday, June 3rd, the PB Texas staff traveled to Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX, to host the Fort Worth Summer ID, an open event for the class of 2025-2028.
More than 40 players made their way to Weatherford and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports from each player in attendance as well as rank the top 5 overall prospects from the event.
TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS
1. Shaw Jenkins, Lake Highlands (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B RHH/INF…good build to add strength in future. Moves well on baseball field, 60 time will improve in future. Solid bat/power combo in future, nice hit approach, opportunity for swing adjustment. Defensively will be steady in the middle in the future with adjustments. Tools present, upside, player to watch develop.
Body: 6-0, 168 pounds. Good build/frame to add strength in future. Avg width to shoulders and back.
Hit: RHH. Strides slightly closed, lands in good position to hit. Rotational back foot, overall does a good job of driving right hip forward, uses lower 1/2. Occasionally back foot gets stuck slightly and not fully rotated. Nice job hitting into firm front side, good posture. Hands/barrel in solid position to launch. Slight length to swing, takes barrel down, then to baseball creating slight uphill path. Would love to see more direct path to zone working to get on plane quickly. Bat/hand speed present. 71.1 mph bat speed with 14g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 mph max exit velocity (89.2 avg.); 369-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 79.00 mph. Arm works, shows ability to throw from all angles. Arm strength will improve in future.
Defense: Solid 1st step, moves well to baseball to get into position. Dead stop fielding with feet, work to play thru baseball with feet. Fields baseball deep, hinge at hips to get out hands front fielding baseball. Athletic to make adjustments.
Athletic Testing: 7.15 runner in the 60-yard dash; 20.70-inch max vertical jump. Solid start. Solid length to stride showing nice foot speed. Overall solid run form, can improve lean forward with head and shoulders some, moves well. Run speed will increase.
