2025 Prep Baseball Texas Player of the Year: Johnny Slawinski | LHP/1B | Johnson City HS | Texas A&M Commit
There was no more dominant presence in Texas high school baseball this spring than Johnny Slawinski, and his performance on both sides of the ball earns him the title of 2025 Prep Baseball Texas Player of the Year.
The Texas A&M recruit is expected to come off the board this July as a left-handed pitcher, and for good reason. He sits in the low to mid 90s with the fastball, flashing command to both sides and the ability to miss bats in the zone. Slawinski is an athletic mover with a clean, repeatable delivery, and he shows a clear starter profile that projects well into pro ball. He dominated on the mound all spring, going 9-1 with a 0.365 ERA, giving up just 22 hits in 74 innings, while striking out 177 and walking only 14. His performance pushed him past the 400 career strikeout mark — a rare milestone that underscores his long-term production and consistency.
While the mound is where he’ll likely earn his paycheck, Slawinski’s two-way production in high school was elite. The left-handed bat hit .478 with 13 home runs and an OPS of 1.054, punishing mistakes and driving the ball to all fields.
Currently ranked #17 on our Prep Baseball Draft HQ High School Big Board, Slawinski has a real shot to be selected inside the top 60 picks in this year’s MLB Draft. A 2024 Prep Baseball All-American, his résumé stacks up with anyone in the country — and in a state as deep as Texas, his dominance made him the clear choice as our 2025 Player of the Year.
