2026 Top-10 Uncommitted: CIF

By: California Scouting Staff

With the fall and summer circuits behind us and the 2026 State Rankings being released at the end of the summer, we’re taking a look at some of the top uncommitted players within this update. Today, we are taking a look at the top-10 uncommitted corner infielders. This list is full of impact infielders that are still looking for a home.

Note: This list was gathered from the Prep Baseball California rankings page, sorted by 2026 prospects and then third base and first base.

2026 TOP-10 UNCOMMITTED: CIF

1. Julian Oliver 3B / RHP / Novato High, CA / 2026

From 4/4/25: “Oliver was another key cog in Novato’s lineup, putting together two hard hits and working 3 QAB’s on the day. Beginning his afternoon with a full count BB out of the 3-spot, stealing 2nd, and coming around to score, Oliver would send a high FB down the LF line for a 1 out 1B. After looking at a tough 2-2 CB for strike 3 in his 3rd AB, Oliver would bounce back by hammering a CH to deep RCF that just hit off the CF’s glove for a 2B as he crashed into the wall. Standing with a slightly open stance, Oliver gets into his front side well, utilizing his solid bat speed to generate lift/carry to the pull-side and up-the-middle. Oliver would move from SS to the mound in the 7th, closing the game out with a scoreless inning and showing a solid FB/SL/CH mix. With room to add to his 6’ 0” frame, I can see Oliver adding some more HR power in his future, with the potential to see even more time on the mound.”

2. Mason Trigo 3B / SS / Buena High, CA / 2026

From 4/8/25: I’ve had several looks at Trigo where I’ve always wondered what his profile would like defensively at SS and on this day I finally got a chance to see the talented defender handle the premium defensive spot. A smooth mover at 3B who has always showed body control, soft hands and solid footwork the way Trigo moved at SS with slightly more bounce to his actions, quickness/rhythm to his feet, comfort playing one handed and even showed off slightly more arm strength to his throws from SS has me intrigued to see potentially more of him there in the future. The defensive look was not the only up arrow feeling I got from Trigo on this day, but the RH hitter put together maybe the most intriguing offensive look I’ve had at him which is saying something considering how high I am on his offensive ability. Trigo has consistently shown bat to ball with a middle of the field approach, but on this day he showed something I had not seen in a live look before which was loft with carry to the pull side. After lacing a single in front of the leftfielder Trigo got to a ball out front with some intent in his next trip to the dish which resulted in a deep drive to the LCF which came up about two feet short of a homer. That simple flash of impact to the pull side from Trigo really intrigued me as I’ve always felt there was more in the offensive tank and the more comfortable he gets with hunting damage with his swing versus simply hard contact there is real power potential for him.”

3. Dylan Wood 3B / 2B / Ruben S. Ayala, CA / 2026

From 6/4/25: “Wood showed a strong across the board profile throughout the entirety of the Orange County Summer ID. With a wiry present build that has broad shoulders and room to fill Wood checked in at 6' 164.9 at the event while posting a solid present run time with a 7.14 60 yard time. His actions on the INF during the defensive portion were quality moving with sound footwork, flashing quality hands that give him the long term potential to stick at 3B while showing solid present arm strength at 83 MPH while flashing carry and accuracy on throws to all angles. Wood's swing showed well across the board on Blast Motion metrics including the second highest max hand speed at 22.9 MPH while averaging 21 MPH and his feel to use those quick hands to deliver the barrel accurately was on display during his two rounds of batting practice. Wood shows a flatter line drive based stroke which delivered hard contact from gap to gap profiling as a high hit with doubles power type profile (94.8 MPH max exit velocity / 334' max distance / 50% hard hit and sweet spot rates).”

4. Justin Romero 1B / C / South Hills, CA / 2026

5. Hunter Lynch 3B / RHP / Novato High, CA / 2026

From 9/13/25: “Lynch has had a intersting turn of events happen in the past year, but with all of that behind, his talent had been emerging over the summer and carrying into the fall like he never skipped a beat. Lynch produced a mixture of real power/strength from the right side, he just never stops hitting in front of the Prep Baseball staff. Lynch had a max EV and an event best of 106 mph, with an average EV of 94 mph, his max bat speed held at nearly 80 mph. The kid can straight up play, his 60-Yard Dash was a 7.06, with a top speed of 19.6, clearly the big man can move. The arm strength is there too, having been up to the 88-89 range this summer on the bump. As a first baseman, Lynch played very vocal and when he had to let it rip across he did. Lynch is headed into his senior season at Novato High School, and I have a feeling he’s going to be making a ton of noise in his area, as well as the state.”

6. Alvaro Moreno Jr 3B / RHP / Ganesha, CA / 2026

From 2/3/25: Moreno, a standout at the 2024 California State Games, showed his off season gains on both sides of the ball. He plays third base with shortstop instincts and enough range and arm strength (84mph) to stay on that side of the field. Footwork really stands out on the 6’3” 206-pound frame. With a 66% sweet spot percentage, Moreno was a line-drive hitting machine during his two rounds of BP that saw him use all fields taking pitches the other way and showing some pull side present power. It’s a simple and aggressive approach at the plate that sees him use the lower half to drive to initiate the swing that flashes high hand/bat speed along with excellent barrel control through the zone.”

7. Tanner Horn 3B / RHP / Chico, CA / 2026

Horn is contributing this year to a very impressive Chico team and is proving to be one of the aces on the staff, he's been pne of their best relief arms with 14 strikeouts and only four walks. Also has been able to help at the plate by showing his offensive numbers.

2025 season stats:

  • Record: 2-0
  • IP: 21
  • ERA: 1.67
  • Strikeouts: 14
  • BB: 4
  • ER: 5
  • H: 12
  • OBA: .160

8. Michael Richards 3B / 1B / Albany High, CA / 2026

From 1/26/25:

Positional Profile: 3B/1B
Body: 5-11, 190-pounds. Possesses strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Easy operation, balanced, quiet hands, short stride. Compact with long extension, stays level. 67.3 mph bat speed with 11 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 87.8 mph. 340' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-82 mph. Short, 3/4 slot, aggressive follow-through.
Defense: Natural look, easy gather, shuffles toward target.
ATH: 7.09 runner in the 60. 1.62 and 3.91 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 24.30 max vertical.
Vizual Edge: 65.48 Edge Score

9. Deagan Rose 3B / C / Clovis High, CA / 2026

From 3/15/25: Rose remained in the cleanup spot, but was behind the dish for the night as opposed to the hot corner. Rose is just as good of a catcher as he is a third baseman. He shows good patience behind the plate with receiving, and doesn’t take off pitches when his blocking is needed. To cap it off, he showed an in-game pop time of 2.03 to nail a would be runner showcasing all of the tools needed from a catcher. Offensively, it was a good day for Rose going 1 for 3 at the plate with a double in the left center gap. Still only a 2026, Rose has room to fill into his 6’2 frame that will no doubt add more power and speed to his game.”

10. Travis Perry 3B / C / Classical Academy, CA / 2026
