Prep Baseball Nebraska Top Performers of 2025: Best Uncommitted Position Players

Nebraska - As we head into 2026, Prep Baseball Nebraska took an in-depth look at the numbers collected from our events throughout the past year. 2025 was an outstanding year as we continued our mission to help players across the state reach the next level—providing a platform to showcase their abilities and be seen by college programs nationwide. More than 900 colleges and professional teams subscribe to Prep Baseball’s services.

Today we look at the best uncommitted position players in the class of 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029.


BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2026

Nathan Christensen SS / OF / Omaha Skutt Catholic High School, NE / 2026

Blazed down the Super Senior 60 track at Homefield in KC with a 6.58 sixty, good for second at the regional. Wiry 5’11”, 154-pound build with twitchy defensive actions and the ability to play both infield and outfield. Quick hands through the zone with a line-drive swing and a balanced approach at the plate. 

Bryce Lakers OF / SS / Gretna, NE / 2026

Quick-twitch two-sport athlete with football recruiting attention. Physical 5’11”, 173-pound frame that stood out during his BP round at the Nebraska State Games, where he maxed 96+ mph exit velocity. Posted a 6.63 sixty, making him a strong centerfield candidate. Some rawness to his game, but significant upside if he focuses on baseball full-time.

Zach McElhose OF / 2B / Waverly, NE / 2026

Slender length to his 6’0 160 lb frame. Was one of the best players at the June Summer ID event posting a 6.79 sixty, 93.7 exit velo and 84 outfield velo. Centerfield projection with top Simple set up and swing with a flat path through the zone. Quicker hands with ability to drive the ball to both gaps in BP. Speed plays both on the diamond and the gridiron.

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2027

Kalai Larsen RHP / SS / Lincoln East, NE / 2027

Two-way contributor (RHP/SS) for Team Midwest at the 2025 Futures Games. Fit seamlessly into a loaded Lincoln East lineup last spring, hitting .404 with a 1.041 OPS and walking as often as he struck out. Defensive metrics and overall actions project well on the left side of the infield.

Matthew Gorman OF / LHP / Papillion La Vista South, NE / 2027

Ranked No. 4 on the recent Tools of the Trade Top Power Bats list for the 2027 class. Smooth left-handed swing with leverage in a long, athletic frame that produces top-tier output: 99.8 max EV and 94.3 average EV. Defensively, he has the athleticism to handle either corner outfield spot and can transition to first base with ease, showing length and footwork around the bag.

Luke Mitchell OF / SS / Southwest High School, NE / 2027

Compact strength with the athleticism to roam centerfield at the next level. Delivered one of the more consistent BP rounds for Team Midwest at the 2025 Futures Games, peppering balls back up the middle and topping at 96.8 EV. Hit .422 with only six strikeouts, eight extra-base hits, and 21 RBIs in 2025.

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2028

Scott Miner II C / OF / Omaha Westview High School, NE / 2028

Compact strength with real quickness in the barrel. Hit .370 for Omaha Westview in 2025, walking more than he struck out and driving in 16. Offers defensive versatility between the outfield and catcher. Punished baseballs at the Super Sophomore Games for Team Nebraska with a max exit velocity of 95.3.

Markus Gorup SS / 3B / Elkhorn South High School, NE / 2028

Broke out as a freshman, hitting .319 with 16 RBIs for Elkhorn South. Shows sneaky strength in a tight, quick swing, producing up to 98.3 mph exit velocity with an 87 mph arm. Has two-way ability on the mound but is poised to be one of the top bats in the state next spring.

Levi Anthony OF / RHP / Creighton Preparatory School, NE / 2028

Smooth, effortless right-handed swing with easy juice and natural launch, producing exit velocities up to 99.6. Put together consistent offensive performances late in the summer and fall at Homefield and Creekside, including multiple multi-hit games for Team Nebraska at the Super Sophomore Games.  

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2029

Brody Cook C / 3B / Westside High School, NE / 2029

5’11”, 185-pound frame with easy juice and a short, quick swing. Strong hands at impact generate exit velos north of 95 mph, peaking at 96.8. Has the tools to develop into one of the top bats in the class. Shows defensive versatility both behind the plate and on the infield.
