Initial Class of 2029 Player Rankings (November)

Throughout the fall we were all over the state, scouting numerous prospects and seeing many new names came to the forefront of the recruiting scene. With that information, we are updating each of our class rankings based off what we have seen. Up now, we take a look at the Class of 2029.

As fall sports come to an end and winter sports season kicks off, we will take a close look at the Top 5.

The Top Five

Kellen Alexander 1B / RHP / Brother Rice, MI / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 149 / POS: 6 Report: Alexander tops the initial 2029 rankings after a strong spring and summer showings at Junior State Games and Junior Future Games. Alexander possesses a strong profile physically future tells of what will be a promising future on the diamond with present arm strength and strong bat in the box. Alexander peaked 85 MPH with the fastball down at LakePoint for Team Michigan back in July racking up a number of punch outs in his debut at JFG and strung together quality at bats in his JSG and JFG showings. One of the few freshman who could impact a varsity roster early in his HS career at Brother Rice.

Garrett Olson LHP / 1B / Fruitport High School, MI / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 159 / POS: 10 Report: West Michigan has seen a number of pitching prospects being pumped out the from the region in the last few years, and Olson could be the next one to remember. Towering 6’5 frame with present arm speed and solid movements down the slope, Olson should have the ability to play key innings this coming spring at Fruitport. A fastball seen up to 85 in two separate stints at JFG, Olson has the makings to make serious leaps in the next twelve months with proper development on the mound.

Alex Michalowski RHP / SS / Romeo High School, MI / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 Report: Another up and coming talented arm from Metro Detroit hailing from Romeo HS. Michalowski already present with good size and mid-core strength working fast paced on the mound and a quick arm action in the delivery. A fastball that’ll climb up 84 and flashed a number of tighter breaking balls.

Bobby Smith 1B / RHP / Brother Rice High School, MI / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 2 Report: An exciting two-way prospect from Brother Rice HS, Smith had been at the forefront of the 2029 class in terms of in game performances. Smith already boasts a 6’5 stature clearing 190 lbs already. Smith had a strong week at JFG flashing clean and smooth movements on the hill with a high ceiling. Not much effort in the swing with potential to be an impact bat in the class down the road.

Trevor Chase SS / C / Brother Rice High School, MI / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 5 / POS: 1 Report: Chase caught our eye initially at the 2025 MI Junior State Games, but has made significant jumps from then. Twitchy athlete with quick and strong arm from behind  the plate and clean footwork. Sound, gentle movements at the SS position. Flashed some juice in the bat between JSG and JFG. Features a compact swing and gets on plane efficiently.
