NJ Fall ID: Takeaways

Last month, the Prep Baseball New Jersey staff hosted the NJ Fall ID Event at Overpeck Park in Bergen County, NJ. 25 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as gameplay and in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball NJ staff.
Earlier this week, we released the Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day as well as a Positional Data Dive and Pitching Data Dive.
Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Takeaways story.
Pitchers
RHP Shane Sammons (Pennington, 2029) is a talented, young right-handed pitcher that hands 5-foot-10 and 163-pounds. He led the event with his 82.5 mph fastball that had up to 16 inches of induced vertical break and 14 inches of horizontal movement. His slider was 72-74 mph with an impressive zone percentage of 100%.
LHP Nate Benus (Don Bosco Prep, 2027) is a 5-foot-7 and 150-pound left-handed pitcher that displayed a four pitch arsenal which included a slider, curveball, cutter, and of course a fastball. His fastball was 79-81 mph and was consistently located at the top of the zone. He also flashed a 73-74 mph curveball, a 73-75 mph slider, and a 80-81 mph cutter.
RHP Dylan Merz (St. Joseph Regional, 2028) boasts a stout frame of 5-foot-8 and 187-pounds. The physical right-handed pitcher flashed a fastball at 79-81 mph and peaked at 21.8 inches of induced vertical break. His slider was 66-68 mph with a bigger break, and his changeup sat 66-69 mph.
Position Players
OF/2B Antione Huet (Dr Ronald McNair High School, 2028) is an intriguing athlete that can multiple positions reliably. The 5-foot-8 and 153-pound ultility player flashed smooth fielding mechanics in the infield and a loose, whippy arm action. Offensively, Huet displayed an opposite field approach with a max exit velocity peaking at 89.8 mph with a max distance of 327 feet.
1B/RHP Pete Cabrales (Westfield, 2027) led the entire event with his 96.9 mph exit velocity and peaked at a max distance of 344 feet. The 6-foot-1 and 199-pound corner infielder displayed a legit power profile at the plate with the ability to consistently elevate the baseball.
3B Gavin Peters (Christian Brothers Academy, 2028) led the event in arm strength from the infield with 79 mph, while displaying his arm strength he also flashed fluid, smooth movements with light prep steps. Offensively, Peters produced an exit velocity of 93.5 mph, an average exit velocity of 90.1 mph, and a max distance of 343 feet. The 6-foot-1 middle infielder swung with well synchronized mechanics and drove the baseball gap-to-gap.
OF/2B Dylan Miller (Wallkill Valley, 2028) is a 6-foot, 155-pound outfielder led the entire entire with a 6.63 sixty-yard dash time. Offensively, Miller displayed his pull side pop with an exit velocity up to 91.1 mph and reached a max distance of 333 feet. An athletic outfielder to watch.
