Hunter Pence Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Saturday, November 8th, the PB Texas staff traveled to the University of Houston in Houston, TX, to host the Hunter Pence Scout Day.
Over 120 players made their way to Houston this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the event's biggest winners.
QUICK HITS
Hank Bills | OF | Klein Oak | 2026 | L/L | 5’7” 135
Bills is a solid all around player. He moves well on the bases and in the OF. Ran a 6.79 60 as well. Shows ability to stay inside the ball with G2G pop. Drove a single and a double in LCF during game play. A plus arm in the field topping at 90 mph. Will be a good asset for the right program.
Caiden Wells | SS/2B | Friendswood | 2026 | R/R | 6’0” 165
With a diving play on a 1 hop line drive towards the 6 hole, Wells gets to his feet and makes an accurate throw to 1B for the out. He’s got good actions in the INF with a solid arm and quick feet. Shows ability to play on the left side with good range. At the plate, Caiden has a nice balanced swing with quick hands. Contact over power and projects to be a solid G2G hitter at the college level. Drove a triple to RCF during game play.
Thomas LaGorga | OF | Homeschool | 2026 | R/R | 6’1” 210
LaGorga is a big, strong, physical player. He has raw arm strength from the OF and topped 89 mph during the workout. For a big dude, he’s a good mover. He ran a 6.58 60. Thomas’ biggest attribute lies at the plate. With strength and quickness, he has the ability to hit balls a long way. He’s got a nice balanced swing with good bat speed. Prototypes as a middle of the order hitter.
Elias Diaz | C/SS | The Woodlands | 2026 | R/R | 5’10” 165
Diaz has a good arm with a ton of carry to his ball. Behind the plate, he threw 1.93-2.07 with some accuracy. He has quick feet and a solid release time. Soft handed catcher with some quickness. Showed well on the INF as well. Moves more like a 3B/2B type guy with good angles and footwork. Shows G2G pop at the plate with quick hands and a flat path. Drove a 2B in game play with solid AB’s.
Mason Flores | OF | Tomball Memorial | 2026 | L/R | 5’10” 165
Flores is a solid LHH outfielder with some speed and arm strength. During the 60’s, he ran a 6.8 and topped 89 mph on his OF throws. He moves well in the field and on the bases. Projects contact over power type player with some speed and developing G2G power. Drove a triple in game play.
Brody Freitas | SS/3B | Grand Oaks | 2026 | R/R | 5’10” 155
Freitas is a solid INF player with good actions, good feet and a decent arm. In the box, he has a mechanically sound swing with some G2G pop. Shows the ability to stay inside the ball and cover the big part of the plate in his approach. Drove a line drive into RCF during game play. Good get for Northeast TX CC.
Evan Mihaly | LHP | Clear Lake | 2026 | L/L | 5’9” 165
Mihaly showed a 84-86 mph FB at HP Scout Day and has been up to 87. What stands out about Evan is his ability to miss barrels. He has a sneaky quick FB due to some deception in the delivery and a quick hand. His 84-86 really plays up. Added to the deception is some good movement. Showed -24HM on his FB and -20HM on his CH. The CH compliments his FB well. A left-handed strike thrower with deception, movement and change of speed.
Cameron Kern | RHP | Clear Falls | 2026 | R/R| 6’0” 195
A solid outing on the bump for Kern at HP Scout Day. His FB sat 85-87 mph with some command. The SL sat 73-75 mph with -16HM. His straight CH sat 76-77. Cameron does not mind going right after hitters. Seemed to be in attack mode with all 3 pitches. Definitely has more in the tank. A solid RHP with pitch-ability.
Aiden Haby | SS/3B/OF | Cypress Woods | 2027 | R/R | 5’10 175
Haby ran a 6.89 60 and showcased a solid arm in the field. Up to 88 mph in the OF, he has plenty of arm to play the left side of the INF. He’s an athletic player with good actions on the dirt. Made an outstanding catch in LF on a hooking fly ball toward the LF corner. Showed well at the plate with 2 base hits. Aiden has quick hands and a balanced stroke with upside pop.
Brody Fortunato | RHP | Klein Oak | 2027 | L/R | 5’10” 157
A Baylor University commit, Fortunato had a solid outing on the mound. With an effortless delivery, he sat 88-90 mph. He has some ride to his Fb with a 22 IVB. Showed late life. Added to his arsenal was a SL sitting 73-74 with a sharp and late break.
Brady Schneider | SS/RHP| The Woodlands | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 156
Schneider showed his ability to swing the bat by driving a 2B to RF and a base hit up the middle on Sunday. He looks to stay inside the ball with middle/oppo approach. On the INF, his feet and hands are his best weapons. Brady has a quick release with a solid arm. Topped 84 across the diamond and ran a 7.01 60.
Tyler Tarnowski | RHP | Bridgeland | 2027 | R/R | 6’6” 220
Tarnowski is a big physical pitcher with a ton of upside. He’s got an athletic arm path with good hand speed. Tyler sat 84-86 and T87 with some late life to his 4 seam FB. His SL shows good actions at times. When the fingers stay on top of the ball, his SL has some sweep and depth (up to -17HM). A very projectable player with the ability to have a plus FB/SL combo.
Bennett Bruce | 2B/SS | George Range | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 170
What really stands out about Bennett is his potential to be a dangerous hitter at the next level. He is a strong kid with the ability to move the bat head. The hands are quick and there is pop in his bat. Shows the ability to get inside the baseball and drive balls to both gaps. In the INF, he has decent footwork and glove actions. A solid arm throwing 79 mph across the diamond.
Camdyn Pickett | OF | Pearland | 2027 | R/R | 5’8” 155
An elite speed runner with a 6.38 60. His speed also translates to his OF play and baserunning abilities. At the plate, Pickett has pretty quick hands and bat speed. There is some sneaky juice in his bat and he does not mind getting an aggressive swing off. Has bat to ball skill. As Camdyn continues to build his arm strength, he is turning himself into a very dynamic player.
Ryan Lamon | SS/2B | Stratford | 2027 | R/R | 6’0” 170
Lamon put together QAB after QAB on HPBA Scout Day. He started off with a base hit to RF and followed with a base hit to LF. His next two AB’s he lined to CF twice. Ryan really showed his ability to go line to line and stay inside the baseball at game speed. Projects to be more of a 2B/3B style player as he continues to shorten his INF arm path.
Tanner Schultz | C/RHP | Lake Creek | 2027 | R/R | 6’192
On the mound, Schultz showcased one of his best attributes; his arm. He sat 86-88 and T89 with his FB that had some ASR. His SL sits in the 74-77 range and has good spin when he stays on top. Behind the plate, Tanner popped a 2.1 to 2B and threw out a runner in game play. Finished his day off with a base hit up the middle. Strong kid that likes to play.
Braxton Mandella | SS/3B | St Thomas | 2027 | S/R | 6’0” 160
Mandella is a thin/wiry INF with good upside. He ran a 7.00 60 and showed nice actions on the dirt. Footwork and angles were solid. Shows plenty of arm strength with more in the tank. Mechanically sound swing from both sides of the plate. Shows quick hands and barrel to ball skills. Drove a 2B to RF and lined out right at the right fielder. Solid player.
Dylan Stanko | SS/C | Tomball Memorial | 2027 | R/R | 5’9 148
Stanko is a solid defender with quick feet and a good arm. Behind the dish, he was a 1.93-2.02 with a quick release. Accurate thrower with good spin to his ball. Actions work in the INF as well. Good angles to balls and hands work well. Dylan has a balanced swing with quick hands.
Landon Bruns | RHP | Conroe | 2027 | R/R | 6’4” 185
Bruns is a physical RHP with a ton of upside. He’s got a quick arm from a ¾ slot which creates some ASR to his ball. His FB sat 85-87 mph with more in the tank. SL sat 69-70 mph and had -26HM. Landon is a low mileage sinker/slider arm with the potential to have a real off speed weapon.
Brody Neal | RHP | Conroe | 2027 | R/R | 5’10” 165
Neal has a FB that sat 84-86 mph and a SL that sat 74-76 mph. What stands out about him is his quick hand in his delivery. His FB is sneaky quick and is most effective living down in the zone. The SL compliments his FB well and spins at 2400rpm. Both pitches got swing and miss below the knees of the hitter. There is more velo in the tank.
Bryce Stott | OF | The Woodlands | 2028 | R/R | 5’11” 165
Stott is a good athlete and a solid mover. In the 60’s, he ran a 6.94 and this translates into his play. His feet work well in the OF with good angles and routes. Plus arm strength throwing 89 into the plate. In the box, he has fast hands and the ability to turn the barrel forward. Rounded his day off at the plate with ground rule double to LF. Player to keep an eye on.
Collin VanEaton | C/OF | The Woodlands | 2028 | R/R | 5’11” 170
VanEaton showed well on both sides of the ball. Topped a 1.96 pop time with solid arm strength and quick feet. He has the ability to put the ball in the air quickly. Collin threw out 2 runners at 3B during game play. At the plate, he has a quick bat with a balanced swing. Showed G2G pop and hit a 3 run HR. Also ran a 6.98 60.
Parker Legh-Page | 3B/RHP | Cypress Ranch | 2028 | R/R | 5’10” 165
Parker is a very toolsy player that consistently shows why he is one of the top players in the state. He is a 90-91 arm from the OF and across the diamond. There are good actions at both and puts the ball in the air quickly. He is a 7.03 runner with the ability to get faster. At the plate, Parker has a ton of bat speed and barrel to ball skill is present. Drove a 2B to LF in game play. On the bump, his velo sat 86-87 and T88. SL sat around 72.
Tanner Ball | RHP/OF | Houston Christian | 2028 | R/R | 6’4” 220
Ball has a ton of ability with big time upside. He’s a physical presence both on the mound and in the field. Throwing 94 mph from the OF, he also ran a 7.27 60. At the plate, Tanner shows his strength and hit-ability by driving a double in RCF and a triple into LCF. As a RHP, he sat 89-90 and T92 with some late life. The CB is a developing pitch to compliment his big FB. It sits 72-73 mph. A solid showing for a very talented player.
Brady Graham | 1B | The Woodlands | 2028 | R/R | 6’1 190
Graham is a solid mover at 1B with a nice frame/build. Shows good actions and arm strength with soft hands. The bat shows pop potential with some strength and bat speed. Will be fun watching Brady continue to improve his game over the next few years.
Andres Valenzuela | SS/2B | Cooper | 2028 | R/R | 5’8” 150
Valenzuela had a plus day at the plate on Saturday. QAB’s with a 1B through the 6 hole and a 3B into LCF. Showed discipline at the plate with solid bat speed. On the dirt, Andres’ footwork is solid and he throws from a ¾ slot.
Wyatt Rains | 3B/1B | Bridgeland | 2029 | R/R | 6’0” 230
Rains is a physical kid with some strength and ability. In game play, he drove a 2B off the LF wall and had a base hit to LF. Shows some pull side pop. He has some quickness to his barrel and strength in his hands. Decent footwork in the INF. Projectable.
Beckett Davis | 3B/C | Lake Creek | 2028 | R/R | 5’9” 150
Davis rounded out his day with a pair of hard hit balls. He started off with a base hit through the middle and then hit a line drive double into LCF. A mechanically sound swing with balance and quick hands. Beckett has decent footwork in the INF and a solid arm. Catcher pop was a 2.2.
Jack Roberts | RHP | Lake Creek | 2029 | R/R | 5’7” 170
With a full arm path and some hand speed, Roberts’s FB sat 81-83 mph. It also ranged from 19-22 IVB. It showed ride at the top of the zone. His SL sat 70-72 mph with 2200+ rpm and good spin. Jack has a good arm with a nice build/frame. Upside.
Tate Harts | SS/RHP | Montgomery | 2029 | R/R | 5’10” 145
Harts had a solid day on both sides of the ball. On the dirt, he has good actions with good feet. He has a quick release and some carry to his ball across the diamond. Made a nice play in the 6 hole during game play. On the bump, Tate sat 78-80 mph with 19 IVB. To complement his FB, the SL sat 66-68 with -15HM. A secondary with both sweep and depth.
David Williams | OF/RHP | Cypress Woods | 2029 | R/R | 6’2” 180
David Williams had an outstanding day showcasing his talents. He ran a 7.22 60 time and topped 95 mph in his OF throws. He’s an athletic player that is still growing and maturing into his body. At the plate, his hands are quick and he has the ability to get the barrel out. David hit a HR to LF during game play. On the bump, he sat 90-92 with some late life. Shows a developing breaking ball with good spin as well. An up and coming two-way player with nothing but upside. Definitely a player to keep tabs on.
Jackson Bose | SS/RHP | Lake Creek | 2029 | R/R | 6’0” 160
Bose had a pair of base hits on Saturday with a single to RCF and a line drive to LF. He is a strong kid with a ton of potential. G2G pop with the ability to go line to line. Defensively, Jackson has good footwork and arm strength. In game play, he made a plus play in the 6 hole. On the rubber, he sat 80-83 mph with ~20 IVB. SL was 67-70 with developing shape.
Landon Adkinson | C | College Station | 2029 | L/R | 6’1 175
Adkinson sat 2.1-2.2 pop to 2B with quick feet and soft hands. In game play, he threw out a runner at 2B. He’s got a good lefty stroke with a flat path and some bat speed. Has some physicality to him. Rounded out his day with a 2B off the RF wall. Landon has the potential to become a very dangerous hitter.
Brooks Jacob | SS/2B | Episcopal | 2029 | L/R | 5’8” 144
Jacob looked solid up the middle with his good actions, quick release and good spin to his throws. He showed sneaky juice by driving a 3B into the LCF gap and capped off his day with another single. Brooks is a solid player that will only get better as he matures physically.
Jasiah Buentello | OF/LHP | B F Terry | 2029 | L/L | 5’6” 151
A solid showing on both sides of the ball for Buentello. On the mound, he sat 75-77 and T78 with some ASR. The real weapon was the SL. It sat 70-71 mph with ~19.5HM. His SL also spun between 2500-2600rpm showing good depth and sweep. Potential “swing and miss” pitch. At the plate, Jasiah barreled a line drive base hit to RF.
Joshua Pfeffer | 3B/RHP | Bridgeland | 2029 | R/R | 5’11” 160
On the bump, Pfeffer’s FB sat 83-85 with ~19 IVB. He has a quick arm with a nice delivery. FB shows late life. His breaking ball sat 73-74 mph with developing shape. At the plate, Joshua put together several QAB’s with a single and a 2B. A solid 2 way player with big arm potential.
Peyton Grothe | SS | Montgomery | 2029 | R/R | 5’7” 130
Grothe is a solid young INF with nice actions, solid feet and a decent arm. His angles on GB’s are clean and his glove works. In game play, Peyton showed his bat to ball skill by putting together some QAB’s. He finished his day with a base hit through the 6 hole and a single up the middle.
