Dakotas - As we head into 2026, Prep Baseball Dakotas took an in-depth look at the numbers collected from our events throughout the past year. 2025 was an outstanding year as we continued our mission to help players across the state reach the next level—providing a platform to showcase their abilities and be seen by college programs nationwide. More than 900 colleges and professional teams subscribe to Prep Baseball’s services.

Today we look at the best uncommitted positions players from the classes of 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029.

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2026

Mason Palmer SS / RHP / Devils Lake, ND / 2026

An interesting middle infielder out of Devils Lake, North Dakota, Palmer immediately caught attention with a 90 mph arm across the infield. A younger-looking frame, average movements, and strong metric numbers make him an intriguing follow out of the state.

Sawyer Hesse SS / 3B / KINDRED HIGH SCHOOL, ND / 2026

Slightly above-average speed and good strength are why Hesse is ranked No. 27 in the Dakotas. His lone event came last March in Fargo, where he ran a 6.94 in the 60, threw 76 mph across the infield, and posted a 93.5 mph exit velocity. There are clear attributes to like, and he is also a multi-sport athlete.

Gus Pankratz OF / Fargo Davies, ND / 2026

One of the top exit velocities in the Dakotas belongs to Pankratz at 103 mph. The outfielder runs a 6.99 in the 60, shows a 79 mph arm, and produces above-average hand and bat speed. With a strong 6-foot-2, 213-pound frame, he could develop into a potential power bat next fall.

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2027

Landon Zink OF / LHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2027

The sixth-ranked player in the Dakotas, Zink was very impressive last summer in Fargo. He runs well with a 6.78 in the 60, throws 90 mph, and shows above-average barrel strength at 98.9 mph. A well-rounded athlete who can play all three outfield spots, Zink should be firmly on coaches’ radars.

Kylan Pulkrabek OF / RHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2027

Pulkrabek carries his athletic build into his metrics, running a 6.74, throwing 90 mph from the outfield, and posting a 98.2 mph exit velocity. There is some rawness in the bat, but he shows bat speed and a swing that works well. Ranked ninth in the Dakotas, he is a very intriguing prospect.

Trenten Keena OF / LHP / Drayton, ND / 2027

Keena has a left-handed swing with potential to develop into a top-of-the-order profile. Currently a contact-driven bat with improving strength, he also brings above-average run ability and outfield versatility. With continued physical gains, Keena is a solid follow in the 2027 class.

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2028

Henry Schrum C / 3B / South High School, ND / 2028

A Junior Future Games participant in 2024, Schrum has made significant physical strides and improved across nearly every metric this past August. He showed an above-average arm at 78 mph, a low pop time ranging from 1.97 to 2.06, and mid-90s exit velocities. Continued progress could make him a must-see prospect this spring and summer.

Blayn Hunt SS / 2B / Stevens High School - 42, SD / 2028

Hunt, from Rapid City, South Dakota, attended his first event last winter. The switch-hitting shortstop shows above-average athleticism both offensively and defensively. With solid bat speed, strength in the barrel, and an average arm at present, he has a strong foundation as he develops.

Jack Pelham SS / RHP / Shiloh Christian School, ND / 2028

BEST UNCOMMITTED CLASS OF 2029

JJ McMenamy SS / 2B / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2029
