Kansas Class of 2029 Rankings: Initial Release
November 25, 2025
As the fall winds down and the winter training grind ramps up, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff unveils our initial look at the 2029 class. While we’ve collected data on well over 150 freshmen statewide, we’ve narrowed this first release to the top 10 prospects.
As the evaluation cycle continues and we get more in-person looks, these rankings will evolve — with new players entering the mix, others climbing, and top prospects separating themselves through continued development and physical maturation.
Dive in below as we break down the top 10 in detail, including notes, insights, and video on each player.

THE TOP 10
Easton Vesey SS / RHP / Gardner-Edgerton, KS / 2029Vesey has solid tools, but not eye-popping ones yet. The reason he finds himself at the top of this list and in the top 200 nationally is thanks to his consistent in-game skills and production not only against his peers in-state, but against the best in the country. The two-way athlete shined at shortstop, in the batter’s box, and on the mound at this year's Junior Future Games in Georgia for Team KS.

Teddy Lubin C / OF / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
The top power bat in the state and arguably in the region, the right-handed hitter has shown he can handle some of the best arms in the country and is a threat for extra bases each and every time he steps into the box. His compact swing should allow him to continue to have massive success as the game speeds up. Lubin also shows real ability behind the dish, highlighted by a quick exchange and an accurate arm.

Garrett Nimz SS / 3B / Olathe East, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2
Another skilled athlete whose measurables may not drop your jaw just yet, but who plays the game and gets results at the highest levels. Nimz currently projects as a middle-of-the-order bat who will have the hands, feet, and arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield long term.

Max Gordon 2B / OF / Blue Valley North, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
One of the easiest players to dream on in the state, Gordon plays with poise, aggression, and IQ well beyond his years. He also produces metrics and stats well beyond what his current frame would suggest is possible. As Gordon comes into his own physically, it is easy to imagine his name shooting up not only the Kansas rankings, but the national rankings as well. |
Landon Alderson 1B / LHP / Mill Valley, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
A fearless competitor on both sides of the ball with physicality to match, Alderson is an imposing presence at 6-foot, 217 pounds. Offensively, the left-handed hitter is not only a deep threat, but also competes in his at-bats and takes what he is given, making him one of the tougher outs in the state. On the mound, the left-hander fills up the zone in the upper 70s.
Braiden Cross OF / RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 1
One of the best frames at 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, and currently possessing the most eclectic measurables in the state, Cross is a high-follow prospect as he continues to polish his game. Few players in the region have a higher ceiling than Cross.

Thomas Walter LHP / OF / Goddard, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 1
Our one and only look at Walter came at the Wichita Summer ID, where he impressed on both sides of the ball but shined brightest on the mound. The 5-foot-10, 156-pound left-hander filled up the zone with a heavy sinking fastball near 80 mph. He also mixed in three off-speed pitches for strikes, including an advanced slider. Offensively, Walter put up strong metrics in every category and is a prospect on that side of the ball as well.

Logan Hepner LHP / OF / Ottawa, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 2
The second-ranked left-handed arm in the state is another two-way player who excels on the mound. Hepner proved he could pitch at the highest levels in the country when he held a supremely talented Team Carolina offense at bay at the Junior Future Games. Hepner's success on the mound comes in large part from an overhand curveball that has consistent late break and lands for strikes against both right- and left-handed hitters.
Jace Kennedy OF / LHP / Maize, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 2
Another tooled-out outfielder with an advanced frame, Kennedy shows all the makings of a next-level centerfielder. The left-handed hitter possesses a power/speed combo to be a weapon at the top or middle of the order as he continues to refine his swing.
Kellen Sears SS / RHP / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2029Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 3
A 6-foot-2, 150-pound two-way athlete who already shows feel for using his levers. At the dish, the left-handed hitter uses a smooth, on-time swing to produce easy power without an abundance of raw strength or bat speed. The same can be said of the right-hander on the mound, where he uses a clean delivery and loose arm to attack hitters in the upper 70s. It doesn’t take much imagining to see Sears shooting up this list in the near future as he adds strength and speed.
