Rising Stars On The Radar: 2028 C/RHP Griffin Durant (Shaker)

The strong, 5-foot-11, 230-pound primary catcher put together an impressive year, stacking quality in-game performances at both the NY State Games and the East Coast Super Sophomore Games at UNC, collecting extra-base hits at each stop. He carried that momentum into the fall, delivering his best workout to date at a Scout Day—posting a 100 MPH max exit velocity with a 95 MPH average. His bat speed sits in the mid–upper 70s with 21–23g of rotational acceleration, translating to real present power through the big part of the field.

Behind the plate, his arm strength has held steady at 74 MPH since February, but the continued refinement of his transfers and footwork has allowed him to shave down his showcase pop times to an impressive 1.94–2.07. Griffin also flashed legitimate two-way potential throughout the summer, featuring a high-spin fastball with up to 20 inches of IVB and feel for his off-speed arsenal. A physical, impactful prospect trending upward in all phases.
