Recruits Scout Day: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

On Sunday, October 26th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, MO to host the annual Recruits Scout Day. This event featured 25+ players from the Recruits program in attendance.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 8 names that popped to our staff from Sunday's trip to Webster Groves.

QUICK HITS

+ OF/RHP Jack Dalton (Lutheran South, 2027) put together a well-rounded performance in this one, with some big jumps in his numbers across the board. The headliner was the eye-popping power numbers at the dish, where his exit velocities climbed into the triple digits, topping out at an impressive 102.5 with an average of 94.5 mph. He also showed off some high-level athleticism with a 6.73 60-yard dash time. Standing at 6'4 195 lbs, there is still room to climb as he continues to add strength to an elite frame, making Dalton an exciting follow looking ahead to the spring.

+ CIF Nolan Moellering (St. John Vianney, 2028) is a high-upside corner-infielder, with the ability to continue to see his already strong power numbers rise as he adds some weight to his tall 6-foot-3 frame. Moellering's best performance of the day was in BP, where he put together an impressive round, with EV's entering the triple digits, with his best ball of the day coming off the bat at 100.7 mph. He also displayed strong arm strength, firing his best bullet across the infield at 81 mph.

+ Yet another infielder who put together a loud round of BP in this one was CIF Henry Brown (Festus, 2027). One of the stronger players in the class, Brown utilizes a simple and repeatable swing to drive the ball with consistency. The strength was evident both at the plate where he saw his exit velocity climb as high as 100 mph, as well as in the field where he was gunned at 82 mph across the diamond.

+ LHP/OF Jackson Ijames (Festus, 2027) is a standout two-way prospect, with some legitmate intrigue at the next level both as an arm and an outfielder, however the focus in this one was at the plate and he put up impressive numbers. He showed a consitent feel for the barrel in his round of BP, averaging an EV of 91.8 mph, while also displaying high-level pop topping out at 98.3 mph.

+ It was an impressive day in Webster Groves for Festus High School, with multiple standouts at this event representing the Tigers, and one of the best of the bunch was MIF Brayden Good (Festus, 2027). Good had one of the best all-around performances of the day, piling up strong numbers across the board. At the plate, the junior put up exit velocities nearing triple digits (T98 mph), and translated that strength to the infield where he was gunned at 86 mph throwing it around the diamond. He also showed off some athleticism, clocking a sub-7.0 60 yard dash time with a 6.99 mark.

+ OF/RHP Karsen Stout (Lindbergh, 2027) was another name who put up big power numbers, with a strong day both at the plate and in the field. At the plate, he showed a consistent ability to drive the ball, with an average exit velocity of 90.2 mph. There was also evident high-end power, with a maximum exit velocity just under 100 mph. In the field, he showed off natural arm strength, topping out from the outfield at 85 mph.

+ Despite being one of the youngest prospects at the event, OF/RHP Ricky Wade (Seckman, 2029) was a standout in the outfield. Wade left the event as the owner of the highest velocity from the outfield, being gunned at an impressive 90 mph. The freshman also displayed some athleticism, clocking a 60-yard dash time of 7.17 seconds. Wade will be an exciting follow as his high school career plays out and he continues to develop.

+ OF/SS Brody Akins (Union, 2028) was one of the top athletes at the event, and only a sophomore, still has plenty of potential to see his numbers climb as he adds strength. Akins was gunned at 84 mph from the outfield, and paired with some evident speed with a 7.13 60-yard dash, has all the tools to be a high-level defender. At the plate, Akins put up exit velocities in the mid 90s (T94.4 mph), with an average just a hair under 90 mph.
