SoCal Uncommitted Games: Outfielder Analysis

On Sunday, October 12th, the Prep Baseball California staff traveled to Cypress College in Cypress, CA for the SoCal Uncommitted Games. This event was host to over 40 prospects from California, and gave our staff a personal look at everyone in attendance.

Today, we are taking a look at all of the outfielders from the day with their scouting reports and a top-5 event ranking, below.

TOP OUTFIELDER PROSPECTS

1. Leland ‘LA’ Ingraham, South High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF Projectable athlete with intriguing upside and the tools to continue trending upward.
Body: 5-9, 170-pounds. Athletic frame with room for additional strength and physical development as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Narrow, slightly closed stance with a flat barrel set behind the ear. Shows a heavy bat waggle and body sway to create rhythm and timing. Sinks into the back leg during the load, generating leverage through the swing. Uppercut path designed to lift the ball with carry to all fields.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 84.4 mph. 339' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF- 83 mph. Max-effort throwing motion with a full arm circle. Generates modest carry while maintaining accuracy on throws to the bases.
Defense: Efficient routes to the ball with a natural, confident look in the OF. Moves under control.
Athletic Testing: 7.41 runner in the 60. 1.76 in the 10 yard split. 20.40 max vertical.

2. Joshua Turner, Western Christian High School (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Shows offensive upside with natural lift and a strong throwing arm that plays in the outfield.
Body: 6-2, 193-pounds. Athletic body with strength throughout and projection remaining as he continues to mature physically.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, athletic stance with quiet pre-pitch movement. Hands held high above the shoulder, slight barrel tilt toward the catcher. Engages a rhythmic toe tap stride into the load while maintaining posture. Quick hands through the zone with a flat path that produces consistent, hard contact to the pull side. 75.2 mph bat speed with 12g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 mph max exit velocity (88.1 avg.); 307-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Short, fast arm motion from an over-the-top slot. Ball jumps out of the hand with firm carry and accuracy to the bag.
Defense: Athletic mover in the OF. Uses a fluid crow hop to build momentum into throw, maintains rhythm and control with a natural look.
Athletic Testing: 7.29 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.30-inch max vertical jump.

3. Kane Clark, Servite High School (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/LHP Two-way player with intriguing tools on both sides of the ball.
Body: 5-7, 157-pounds. Compact build with present strength throughout.
Hit: LHH. Feet set just wider than shoulder-width, creating a balanced base. Simple, efficient movements with a short load and controlled stride. Shows present hand speed and a smooth, fluid swing through the zone. Employs a pull-side approach, finishing low with a controlled two-hand follow-through. 67.3 mph bat speed with 11g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 mph max exit velocity (84.8 avg.); 331-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 79 mph. Compact arm action with an occasional minor hitch near the top of the motion. Works with intent and aggressiveness, driving the ball with conviction on each throw.
Defense: Shows natural rhythm when fielding, working through the ball near the right foot. Displayed ability to cover ground with fluid actions and soft hands.
Athletic Testing: 7.44 runner in the 60-yard dash; 20.50-inch max vertical jump.

4. Desi Whelan, Wilson High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/2B Versatile OF with quick actions and a gap-to-gap approach at the plate.
Body: 5-9, 162-pounds. Compact, athletic frame with present strength and room to grow.
Hit: LHH. Slightly closed stance with a firm back-side load. Uses a toe-tap trigger to initiate timing. Hands stay high creating separation, while maintaining a level bat path through the zone. 70.5 mph bat speed with 26g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 mph max exit velocity (88.8 avg.); 297-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. High 3/4 slot with a medium arm circle and a short, clean follow-through.
Defense: Moves fluidly to the ball, stays low through fielding, and delivers accurate throws on-line with proper mechanics.
Athletic Testing: 7.34 runner in the 60-yard dash; 25.20-inch max vertical jump.

5. Victor Moreno II, Hilltop Senior High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/SS Developing OF with a contact swing and fluid OF actions.
Body: 5-10, 160-pounds. Wiry frame, more fill coming with maturity.
Hit: RHH. Wide and crouched stance with hands set high above the ears. Drops hands slightly during a short stride load. Shows a slight uphill bat path, stays through the middle of the field. 60.3 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 83 mph max exit velocity (65.8 avg.); 228-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 77 mph. Over-the-top release, starting with the glove hand held high during the windup.
Defense: Stays low to the ground when attacking the baseball, showing intent through the play. Uses a big crow hop into the throw.
Athletic Testing: 7.49 runner in the 60-yard dash; 17.90-inch max vertical jump.

BEST OF THE REST (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Jordan Anderson, Santa Monica High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: 1B/OF Corner OF profile with contact driven approach in the box.
Body: 6-3, 174-pounds. Wiry, athletic build with room to add strength.
Hit: RHH. Wide, balanced stance with weight preset on the back leg. Uses a gather-forward stride, keeping the barrel flat and knob angled toward the catcher. Compact, direct swing path geared toward hard contact on the ground. 61.1 mph bat speed with 7g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 86 mph max exit velocity (75.5 avg.); 156-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 69 mph. Full arm path, finishing with a firm front leg block. Easy throws to the bag.
Defense: Shows controlled, deliberate movements when approaching the ball. Fields ball by left foot.
Athletic Testing: 7.42 runner in the 60-yard dash; 19.40-inch max vertical jump.

Leo Cassell, Crespi Carmelite (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/1B Corner OF profile with present hand speed at the plate.
Body: 6-1, 164-pounds. Wiry build with more fill coming to the frame.
Hit: LHH. Starts from a wide, slightly closed stance with a small step back to even during the load. Hands stay quiet throughout the move. Works with an uphill swing path, hits the ball in the air with a two-hand finish. 62.5 mph bat speed with 10g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 83 mph max exit velocity (77.9 avg.); 301-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 73 mph. Works with a full arm circle, getting complete extension on the backside before coming through the release.
Defense: Steady, controlled movements when fielding the ball, big crow up into throw.
Athletic Testing: 7.46 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.40-inch max vertical jump.

Paxton Czubek, South Hills (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP Two-way talent with upside both on the mound and at the plate.
Body: 5-11, 182-pounds. Well-balanced build with proportional strength throughout the frame.
Hit: RHH. Starts with high hands and the knob preset toward the catcher. Keeps the upper half quiet with minimal hand movement and a short toe-tap stride for timing. Slight stiffness in the swing, but generates consistent, firm contact thanks to quick hands and solid barrel control. 69.3 mph bat speed with 15g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 mph max exit velocity (91.4 avg.); 330-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Max effort, fast arm action. High 3/4 slot that generates noticeable carry on throws to the base.
Defense: Aggressively attacks the ball, maintaining rhythm through a large, fluid crow hop into the throw
Athletic Testing: 7.50 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.80-inch max vertical jump.

Austin Loughrin, La Canada High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/OF Athletic OF with gap-to-gap line drive impact.
Body: 5-10, 156-pounds. Lean, strong frame with broad shoulders and room to fill.
Hit: RHH. Balanced stance with front foot slightly closed off, hands held high and bat angled over the head. Medium leg lift creates timing while weight shifts into the back side. Quick, compact hand path produces consistent line-drive contact with a long, controlled barrel.
68.1 mph bat speed with 13g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 mph max exit velocity (90.6 avg.); 199-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. High 3/4 slot with a loose, fluid action. Throws possess carry
Defense: Controlled movement with efficient footwork. Reads the ball well, uses an extended crow hop into throw.
Athletic Testing: 7.28 runner in the 60-yard dash; 19.30-inch max vertical jump.

Isaac Lulich, Mira Costa High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/LHP Two-way lefty, pitches to consistent GB contact.
Body: 6-1, 178-pounds. Long levers with room to fill out physically.
Hit: LHH. Slightly closed-off upper body stance with hands set above the ear and wrapped toward the catcher. Creates separation in the load with an uphill path through the zone, looking to drive the ball in the air with intent. 67.8 mph bat speed with 5g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 mph max exit velocity (88 avg.); 345-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 76 mph. Medium arm circle with a big windup into the throw. Minimal follow-through.
Defense: Slows feet slightly when attacking the baseball, showing controlled and deliberate actions
Athletic Testing: 7.41 runner in the 60-yard dash; 20.60-inch max vertical jump.

Hayden Resch, Poway High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF Strong backstop with sound actions behind the plate.
Body: 6-1, 179-pounds. Tall with good proportions and present strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Balanced and upright setup with low hands and a flat barrel. Front shoulder turned slightly inward, creating tension and control in the load. Uses a controlled stride with a direct path to the ball, producing consistent low line drives to all fields. 71.7 mph bat speed with 13g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (84.4 avg.); 301-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. INF - 73 mph. OF - 80 mph. C: Short arm action with a downhill release, showing accuracy to the bag. INF: Works from a low 3/4 arm slot with natural arm-side run on throws across the diamond.
Defense: 2.12-2.26 pop time range; C: Mobile behind the plate with soft, quiet hands while receiving. INF: Presents a large target at first base and allows the ball to travel deep into the glove when fielding GBs.
Athletic Testing: 7.58 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.20-inch max vertical jump.

Gerald Stevens III, Scripps Ranch High (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: 1B/OF LH bat that contributes on both sides of the ball with smooth, controlled actions.
Body: 5-8, 185-pounds. Proportionate build with present strength and more room to fill.
Hit: LHH. Balanced with minimal stride, slightly lifting the front heel and turning the knee inward to transfer weight. Noticeable hand separation in the load. Slight upper cut swing, looks to get hands extended. 63.2 mph bat speed with 11g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (71.7 avg.); 247-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 73 mph. OF - 71 mph. INF: Efficient arm from a low 3/4 slot, consistent on throws to the bag. OF: Short arm action with release behind the ear, possesses arm side run.
Defense: INF: Clean two-hand gather, gets rid of the ball quick. OF: Relaxed attack to the baseball, intent to field ball first. Corner OF profile.
Athletic Testing: 7.93 runner in the 60-yard dash; 17.00-inch max vertical jump.

Mac Taw, Loyola High School (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: 2B/OF Athletic MIF that can play multiple positions.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Athletic frame with some fill. Projectable build.
Hit: RHH. Hands start just above the shoulders in a balanced setup. Minimal weight shift to the backside during the stride. Slight stiffness in the upper half but generates solid contact through a rotational swing. Level bat path with consistent hard contact to the pull side. 68.9 mph bat speed with 13g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 mph max exit velocity (88.9 avg.); 355-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. OF - 81 mph. Arm is loose and athletic, capable of accurate throws from multiple angles.
Defense: Moves athletically to both sides, displaying smooth, fluid glove-to-hand exchanges.
Athletic Testing: 7.41 runner in the 60-yard dash; 20.30-inch max vertical jump.
