2027 Top 10 Uncommitted: MIF

As we head deeper into the fall, more and more of the 2027 class are starting to commit to play at the next level. Let's take a look at some of the top uncommitted players in the class. Today, dive into the top 10 uncommitted middle infielders. This list is full of impact bats that are looking for a home.

Top 10

Trevor McClure SS / RHP / Mount Vernon, IL / 2027

From 8/06/24: “INF/RHP Trevor McClure (Mount Vernon) is an ultra athletic prospect with plenty more strength to come, standing in a 6-foot, 167-pound frame. His tools are intriguing, highlighting why he’s one of the top prospects in the state’s 2027 class. On the mound, McClure showed athletic movements and confidence to throw strikes with his entire repertoire. He displayed an upper-80s fastball with sink and quality spin. McClure frequently turned to a sharp 12/6 curveball that was up to 2576 rpm, and a slider with equally impressive spin (2329 avg. rpm), sitting 76-78 mph. He rounded out his arsenal with a change-up that played with mostly straight actions. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed a simple, repeatable swing that was paired with a loose, level path and an up-the-middle-to-pull side approach. He finished the week 3-for-6 with a double, two runs, two walks and two stolen bases. A 6.94 runner, McClure’s athleticism translated to his defense, as he showed deliberate footwork and a strong arm that topped at 89 mph across the diamond during the showcase.”

Luca Agne SS / C / Brother Rice, IL / 2027

From 2/21/25: “INF/C Luca Agne (Plainfield North, 2027) is a definite name to follow in the 2027 class. Currently ranked No. 33 in the state, Agne is a switch-hitter with proven versatility with the glove. At the plate, he provides a similar look from each side, creating some length through the zone with line-drive contact and controlled intent, delivering his hardest hit ball at 95.3 mph. He also put up some impressive BLAST metrics, averaging 21 mph for his hand-speed (T24 mph), 69.4 mph for his bat-speed (T77.5 mph) and 16.9 Gs for his rotational acceleration (T27.5 G). He’s a fluid defender on the infield with soft hands and athletic actions, showing quality footwork and timing with a strong arm (T85 mph INF). Behind the plate, he has quick/clean actions with a controlled glove-to-hand transfer and quick feet, working in-line from the chute (1.89 pop-time; T74 mph).”

Evan Riiff SS / RHP / Lincoln-Way East, IL / 2027

From 7/24/25: “Athletic 5-foot-11, 182-pound frame. Riiff had a strong weekend at the plate collecting twelve hits and seven RBIs. Upright, balanced setup with quiet pre pitch movement. A simple, repeatable operation. Line drive approach, driving the ball to all fields. Can pick it up the middle. A RHH to keep an eye on moving forward. Riiff also impressed on the mound on Sunday as he struck out seven batters through five strong innings. The right-hander operates from a simple, easy delivery with a high leg lift while having a tall/fall approach. Long, easy arm action from a low ¾ slot. His fastball sat 82-84 with arm-side run. Riiff mixed in a slider that sat 70-71 with late actions that he threw with confidence.”

Madden Cotts SS / OF / Libertyville, IL / 2027

From 8/05/25: “+ MIF Madden Cotts (Libertyville, 2027) showed some impressive tools throughout the two-day event. Athletic 5-foot-9, 159-pound frame with room to add strength. The left-handed hitter operates from a balanced base with a high leg lift. Compact swing that is quick through the zone. Cotts posted a 6.91 60 during Tuesday’s workout while having an 83 mph infield velo. He was able to show off his speed as he hustled out a triple on Wednesday.” 

James Obaldo 2B / SS / Fenwick, IL / 2027

From 8/05/25: “+ INF James Obaldo (Fenwick, 2027) is an incoming-junior whose game continues to stand out in-game. An established defender up the middle at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, Obaldo also showed impressive barrel strength from the right side. He swatted a home run during gameplay and also reached a max batted ball distance of 328 feet in batting practice. Obaldo additionally showed savvy baserunning; taking bases at will and putting added stress on opposing pitchers/catchers.”

Luke Bryant SS / RHP / Hall, IL / 2027

From 3/12/25: “+ INF Luke Bryant (Hall, 2027; IL) is an athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound infielder that impressed throughout the event on Sunday. At the plate, the right-handed hitter took a polished round of BP, with a fluid and easy swing showing feel for the barrel throughout. Defensively Bryant showed steady actions with arm strength up to 84 mph.”

Jackson Roberts SS / Barrington, IL / 2027

From 10/12/25: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 75 in the state. 6-foot, 154-pound frame, lean with plenty more room to add on strength. Gave a strong all-around showing in every aspect. Athletic right-handed hitter with a balanced swing, fluid rhythm in the hands with a short and simple load, flat path with line-drive intent, 91 mph peak EV. Natural defender on the infield with fluid footwork and soft hands, moves easily to both sides with rangy actions, clean glove-to-hand and double play turn, arm plays from multiple angles and with easy strength across (T87 mph). Also a 6.78 runner in the 60.”

Brady Dunnett SS / C / Oswego, IL / 2027

From 10/13/25: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 77 in the state. Compact 5-foot-8, 166-pound frame, rounded shoulders with a strong lower-half. Continues to look the part as one of the more polished left-handed bats in the state with defensive versatility. Simple and easy swing, short stride with direct hands to the ball, repeats well with feel for the barrel and a line-drive oriented swing, balanced throughout, worked mostly pull-side and middle of the field in this look, some feel to take it the other way on the outer-half, 94 mph peak EV, 344’ max distance. Advanced defensive actions on the infield, quick and agile feet through the baseball with a confident glove, soft hands and funnel into the body, crisp transfers, arm can play on the move and from multiple angles, T85 mph. Clean actions from behind the plate, controlled actions, stays low and in-line from the chute, quick glove-to-hand, throws played on the bag (T75 mph, 2.00 pop-time).”

Evan Daxenbichler SS / RHP / Limestone, IL / 2027

From 7/24/25: “An athletic 6-foot, 185-pound frame, Daxenbichler gave a strong showing with the bat Friday morning. The left-handed bat went 2-for-2 with a line drive double and three RBIs. In the box, Daxenbichler works with present rhythm, sets up athletically with an easy uphill swing with hands that work strong through the ball. With the glove, it's confident actions, making plays with ease, with clean footwork. As he continues to fill out his lean, long-limbed frame, it will be an interesting follow in the coming years.”

Austin Rutter SS / 2B / Sacred Heart-Griffin, IL / 2027

From 8/05/25: “+ MIF Austin Rutter (Sacred Heart-Griffin, 2027) would showcase an athletic LHH/MIF profile throughout gameplay with foot speed that consistently played up throughout. At the plate, showcased a loose, fluid swing with athletic hands and developing feel for the barrel and pull-side tendencies. Finished gameplay 2-for-6 with a home run, an RBI, two runs scored, and two walks. Ran a 6.82-second 60-yard dash while producing consistently good run times down the line. Twitchy 5-foot-8, 157-pound frame.”
