New Mexico TPG Quick Hits: Upperclass

Colton Floyd 3B / OF / Sandia, NM / 2027

The Texas A&M commit came into the New Mexico Top Prospect Games with a ton of excitement, already built up as he came off a huge summer and he did not disappoint as he put up, putting up the top offensive performance, not only during the Pro Style Workout on Day 1, but following it up with a pair of homeruns during the live game play on Day 2. Floyd found himself at the top of almost every statistical category that applied to him on the Day 1 workout, producing an event best 112.6 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with an average edge of velocity of 106.2 mph. The added 15 pounds of size and strength over the past five months, has taken his ability at the plate to another level where he can potentially just miss balls, and still see them leave the yard. An overlooked part of his game that was on displayed during the live gameplay was his actions on the defensive side of the ball where he showed off his improved for work, staying lighter on his feet even with the 230 pounds he is carrying. The Sandia product has asserted himself has not only the top prospect in New Mexico’s 2027 class, but one of the top prospects in the country.

Lyron Paul OF / RHP / Rio Rancho, NM / 2027

One of the biggest winners from the New Mexico top prospect games, Paul put together one of the top overall workouts on day one then followed it up with a massive performance at the plate on day two, including a no doubt home run to centerfield. The present athleticism paired with the flashes of present power immediately caught the attention of the Prep Baseball staff, as he also put up the top outfield velocity of the event at 87 mph. His 6.88 VALD 60 time proves he would be able to hold down a legitimate centerfield at the next level while still having plenty of room to add size and strength to his Prep Baseball verified 6’1, 175 pound frame. There is a lot to like about this ‘27 and we are excited to follow him over the next two years to see the continued growth in his game.

Dillon Sopher RHP / 3B / La Cueva, NM / 2027

Another winner at the New Mexico top prospect games, Dillon Sopher announced this presence on day, one during the pro style workout where he showed off his present pole side power along with the ability to drive the ball to the big part of the yard. During the live game play on day two, he racked up a three hit game, with three line drives, including a double down the left field line. At 6 foot four, 210 pounds, you have to think there is still plenty of development still to come with a premium power tool expected to have a big junior season.

Ryan Hutchinson SS / RHP / Cibola High School, NM / 2026

Another HD baseball product that put together a massive weekend was 2026 two-way, Ryan Hutchinson. His 99.2 mph TrackMan exit of velocity was one of the top of the day one workout with it being backed up by his 90.7 mile per average TrackMan of velocity that proved he can consistently find the barrel. On the mound is where he shined on day two with his fastball running up to an event best 89.1 mph, that worked with his curveball and slider secondary mix that we only expect to continue progressing as consistent pitches.

Kaiden Swanson OF / LHP / St. Pius X Highschool, NM / 2026

Swanson was a player who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball staff, posting an event best 6.48 second VALD 60 time. He then followed it up with a loud BP session where he earned a 99.9 mph TrackMan exit velocity along with a 94.7 mph average exit velocity, one of the top average exit of velocities of the event. The standout performance Sunday one translated into the live gameplay where he racked up an opposite field double where he showed off his easy, Elite speed, cruising in a second standing up. With the game trending towards being power and speed dominant, this is a player that can fit both of those premium attributes with much more expected to come as he adds strength to his frame.

Logan Sunstrom 1B / LHP / Rio Rancho, NM / 2027

An era where the two-way athlete has become the most sought after type prospect, Sunstrom fits that bill as a player that we expect could get it done on both sides of the ball at the next level. He put on a show during his BP session on day one, then followed it up with a no doubt home run on day two during the live gameplay. On the mound, the lefty showed off his intriguing arm, settling in in his second inning of work, where he ran his fastball up to 86.7 mph with present arm side life. There’s a lot to like about this Rio Rancho prospect with much more to come over the next two years.

Shane Casaus OF / 3B / Sandia High School, NM / 2027

Another player that showed off his present tools while still projecting to add much more down the road was Shane Casaus. After running a VALD 60 time of 6.90, he got settled in during his BP session as his round progressed, showing off flashes of his present power to the big part of the yard. He followed it up with a double down the left line during the live gameplay that proved the tools will translate.

Micah Solomon OF / RHP / Volcano Vista, NM / 2027

The Volcano Vista product was another winner at the New Mexico top prospect games, shining on both the workout day as well as during the live gameplay on day two. Getting his day started with a 6.56 VALD 60 time, he didn’t showed off his present feel for the barrel with a 93.8 mph TrackMan exit of velocity to go along with his 89.5 mph average exit of velocity as he produced line drive after a line drive during his BP session. Then during the live gameplay, he flashed his power potential with a stand-up double off the left field wall continuing to prove that he is going to be a player to follow in New Mexico’s 2027 class.

Cole Kesner 1B / C / Hobbs High, NM / 2026

Another player who produced a massive performance on the day, one pro style workout was Cole Kesner, a senior out of Hobbs high. The 107.6 mph TrackMan exit of velocity ranked them on the top. We have seen all summer to go along with his 99.8 mph average exit velocity that proves he is able to do it consistently. In a time where power is at a premium, it is hard to ignore this bat in New Mexico‘s 2026 class and we expect him to be on more than a few radars following this event.

Edward Blanshine SS / OF / Cibola, NM / 2026

Blanshine quietly put together an impressive performance at the New Mexico top prospect, games, earning his spot near the top of both the Top Infield Velocity - 88 mph, and Top Outfield Velocity - 86 mph. He followed up his long drive field batting practice session on day one with multiple quality of bats during the live gameplay on day two where he proved that his offensive ability translates in game as he hit a ground roll double with another loud barrel on the weekend to his name. Keep an eye on this HD Baseball product as a player we only expect to continue seeing his game trend as he adds size to his lean, athletic frame.

Tyler Swarts OF / Piedra Vista High, NM / 2027

Another player who put together a standout performance at the New Mexico top prospect games was Tyler Swartz. The present physical strength helped him earn not only one of the top velocities of the event at 98.5 mph, but also one of the top average exit of velocities at 95.1 mph. His ability at the plate is only amplified by his present foot speed that was on display as he ran a VALD 60 time of 6.73 seconds. This is a ‘27 that we expect only continue seeing his game trend over the next two years with much more expected to come.

Chase Rivera OF / LHP / Rio Rancho, NM / 2027

One of the most intriguing arms at the New Mexico top prospect games, Rivera put together an impressive performance with his fastball, changeup, curveball mix the heat commanded on both sides of the plate. His curveball, spinning up to 2400+, prove to be his go to pitch that produced multiple swinging misses while his fast ball ran up to 83.1 mph with much more to come as he adds size and strength to his lean, wiry frame.

Christopher Aguilar C / SS / St. Pius X, NM / 2027

Aguilar proved to be a “gamer”, racking up a pair of hits during the live gameplay portion of the event. Still useful in his appearance, this isn’t a guy who will jump off the page by putting up massive numbers during the workout day, but showed up on day two where he put together one of the days top performances. Keep an eye on this multiposition athlete has a player we expect only continue seeing his game trend as he continues to develop physically.
