Prep Baseball Report

Who are the uncommitted senior position players to know in your state?

By: Andy Sroka
National Managing Editor, Scouting

The ‘Hotlist’ is a series that provides weekly insight into the high school baseball scene spanning the country, curated by Prep Baseball’s state directors who are situated nationwide, with vital intel on the prospects who are in their own backyards. Each week, we’ll publish our ‘Hotlist’ on varying topics that are timeliest to the national baseball calendar at that point in time.

This week’s topic: This week, we’re highlighting uncommitted seniors. Submit a 2026 prospect (or multiple) from your state who remains uncommitted but has the ability to play at the next level. Focus on players who stood out at an event recently or at some point this fall, and include details on where you saw them and what makes them a follow heading into the winter and spring seasons.

♨️ The ‘Hotlist’ (11/6):

Arizona

(2/1/25)

+ Carter Macanas, SS (Red Mountain HS HS, 2026) | Uncommitted :

“One of the most instinctual players in Arizona’s 2026 class, Macanas continues to stand out with his confident presence and polished all around game. He impressed in playoff action with multiple quality swings, showing a short, fluid stroke that produces consistent line drives. A smooth defender with advanced actions and a strong arm across the diamond, Macanas plays with poise and maturity beyond his years, an uncommitted senior who continues to trend upward heading into the spring.”

+ Parker Rahn, 3B/1B (Hamilton HS HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Rahn continues to prove himself as one of the top uncommitted bats in Arizona’s 2026 class. The strong corner infielder impressed this winter with mature barrel control and explosive bat speed, driving balls with authority to all fields. He followed up a standout Preseason All-State performance with another loud showing at the Mesa ID, which lead into a strong performance at West Coast Games, flashing advanced power and steady infield actions. With his physicality and ability to impact the game offensively, Rahn remains a high level follow heading into the spring.”

+ Luis Mejia, SS (St. Mary's Catholic HS HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Mejia continues to prove why he’s among the top uncommitted shortstops in Arizona’s 2026 class. The left-handed hitter brings polish and confidence to both sides of the ball, showing smooth, easy actions at short with a strong arm and advanced feel for the position. At the plate, his balanced stroke produces consistent line drives with emerging gap power and mature barrel control. With his athletic frame, defensive reliability, and growing offensive impact, Mejia remains a must follow prospect heading into his senior season.”

+ Cameron Davidson, SS (Willow Canyon HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Davidson continues to solidify himself as one of Arizona’s top uncommitted infielders. The athletic 6’1, 182 pound right-hander shows a fast, compact swing with real pull-side juice, consistently producing hard contact and backspin flight. His 6.5 speed, 89 mph arm, and steady infield actions give him the tools to stay up the middle, while his offensive upside adds middle of the order potential. With his blend of athleticism and strength, Davidson is a name college programs should be tracking closely heading into the spring.”

+ Ryan Tomey, SS (Horizon HS HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Tomey continues to build momentum as one of Arizona’s more well rounded uncommitted prospects. The athletic infielder stands out for his clean actions, confident glove, and strong arm that’s reached 91 mph across the diamond. Offensively, he shows a compact, efficient swing with quick hands and consistent line drive contact to all fields. With his combination of athleticism, feel, and steady development, Tomey is a reliable ball player to watch closely heading into his senior campaign.”

+ David Campos-Lopez, C (Tucson High Magnet HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Campos Lopez has established himself as one of Arizona’s premier uncommitted catchers after a strong showing at the Senior Future Games. The 6’0, 208 pound backstop is a plus defender with advanced catch and throw ability, posting 1.85–1.91 pop times and an 83 mph arm from behind the plate. He pairs that with a strong, balanced right handed swing that produces firm line drive contact and flashes of real power. With leadership behind the dish and impact potential at the plate, Campos Lopez is a name college programs should be watching closely heading into his senior season.”

+ Xavier Escontrias, SS (Centennial HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Escontrias continues to prove himself as one of the more dynamic uncommitted players in Arizona’s 2026 class. A true shortstop with clean actions and an 87 mph arm across the diamond, he shows the ability to impact the game on both sides. His balanced right handed swing produces consistent, loud contact to all fields with a calm, controlled rhythm. On the mound, he offers additional intrigue with a quick arm and a fastball that reaches 87 mph, complemented by feel for spin. With his athleticism, two way ability, and steady competitiveness, Escontrias is a well rounded prospect college programs should keep close tabs on.”

Antonio Torres, Arizona State Director

California

(6/7/25)

+ Rock Akahi, OF (Orange Lutheran HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Always a hitter, Akahi has redefined his frame in the last 10 months and has elevated his already well regarded hitting tool. There is some positional uncertainty with regards to defensive playing time, but Akahi has improved enough in the outfield with his overall game there, to provide comfort that he can handle a corner spot, likely right field. However, the continued improvement of innate bat-to-ball skills that Akahi has always presented were on full display in my recent viewing at a team scout day. Akahi took a professional few rounds of BP displaying hand speed and power in the barrel peppering the gaps when the situation called for it, and pulling one to move the runner over. It didn't matter, he was on the barrel and giving himself a chance. With exit velos over 100mph and hand speed over 23mph to go with bat speed over 75mph, all metrics verified at a Prep Baseball California summer event, Akahi, if earning the opportunity in the lineup this spring, is due for a breakout season that should come from consistent playing time. ”

Les Lukach, State Director

+ Miles Herbert, SS (San Marcos High School HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“From 10/11/25: "Herbert made the 2+ hour drive from the Central Coast of California out to the High Desert to be apart of the event. Athletically built at 5'11 161.8 lbs. Herbert boasts a strong set off tools across the board that all showed up during the workout. He opened the day showing off sound present running ability to clock at 7.0 60 yard time (which translates into game action), athletic actions moving around at SS showing natural confidence to play downhill with one hand, feel to throw on the run and the ability to stick his foot in the ground while throwing accurately with a 84 MPH INF arm. At the plate his swing has intent in the operation showing strong present Blast Motion metrics with 22.8 MPH of hand speed (third in event), 77.4 MPH bat speed (tops in the event) and 22.4 Gs of rotational acceleration in the turn (fourth in the event). The path for Herbert works uphill looking to drive the ball in the air to the middle of the field and with his present bat speed, ability to rotate and strong barrel feel he produces some intriguing present contact metrics on Trackman. Herbert tied for second with a 99.7 MPH max exit velocity and 369' max distance while averaging 90 MPH on his EVs throughout his rounds. With the uphill path he can top the ball at times with top spin, but when he connects through the bottom half the ball jumps and as he continues to develop his consistency for that contact point there is intriguing impact in the offensive profile During the game play portion of the event Herbert showed off his feel for defense taking charge moving around the INF to defend at a strong level at multiple spots, but looks to be a long term strong SS profile defender. At the dish he used his athleticism/burst to beat out a pair of INF hits including one where he posted a top level 4.14 seconds home to 1B time."”

Steven Hardesty Associate Director SoCal

+ Luke Severns, C (Etiwanda HS, 2026) | Uncommitted :

“Severns made a strong impression at the Inland Empire Fall ID on October 26th, continuing to show steady development and polish on both sides of the ball. He showcased a smooth, efficient swing from the left side that produced a max exit velocity of 93.5 mph, consistently driving the ball to all fields. Behind the plate, Severns turned in pop times consistently in the low-2s with a 75 mph arm to the 2B bag. Severns best trait behind the plate however, is his soft receiving actions that allow him to steal strikes effectively at the bottom of the zone. His all-around skill set continues to trend in the right direction and make him an intriguing follow heading into 2026.”

Vinnie Alfino: Manager Content and Operations

Canada

+ Will Henderson, OF (Fieldhouse Pirates HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Henderson is one of the top athletes in the country standing 6-foot-2, 175-pounds who can impact the game on both sides of the ball with his plus defensive ability in CF and production from the right-side.

After a huge summer circuit, including a Senior Future Games appearance, Henderson got his first crack at the Junior National team this fall and continued to produce with three hits, two RBI, five walks, and two stolen bases. The Fieldhouse Pirates product is one of the top uncommitted players in the country that Division I schools need to be on.”

Cam Black-Araujo, Assistant Director

Colorado

+ Silas Meuli, OF (Legend HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Meuli is a 2024 Future Games alumni who comes with a whippy swing from the left-side that has generated a top exit velocity over 98 mph. Meuli has the ability to play a true center-field, runs a 6.6 60-yard dash time, has quality baseball IQ, actively developing athleticism, and impacts the game on the base-paths. One of the most tool'd up Colorado prospects still on the board!”

Caleb Dameron, Assistant Director

Florida

(7/22/25)

+ Erick Robles, OF (Lake Mary HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Erick Robles is one of the top uncommitted 2026s in Florida still. An athletic outfielder with strong bat-to-ball skills. Robles is a gamer who can make an impact at the next level. Former Junior and Senior Future Gamer.”

Rocco Iervasi, Director of Operations

Georgia

+ Noah Larson, OF (North Paulding HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“We got a chance to see Larson in August at the Senior Games, and stood out in game play with a pair of hits, including a home run. Fast forward to the fall and he was out our first stop on the campus tour series and was a top performer once again. He posted a 6.69 60-yard dash with a max EV of 99.2 during BP.”

Hudson Graham, State Director

Illinois

+ Keenan Donaldson , C (New Trier HS, 2026) | Uncommitted :

“Keenan really burst onto the scene for us this past summer as a standout on the tournament circuit, he then carried it over into a great performance at one of our open events in early July, ultimately earning an invitation to the Senior Future Games. He plays a premium position and has tools to go along with it. He's an above-average runner (6.93 60), and he has plenty of arm-strength (T80 mph, 1.88 pop-time). He also takes competitive at-bats with present power from the right side (T99 mph EV). ”

Peter Hamot, Assistant Scouting Director Illinois/Wisconsin

Indiana

(9/14/25)

+ Trent Gill, SS (Valparaiso HS, 2026) | Uncommitted':

“The top-ranked position player on our board. Athletic SS standing at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds with a well-rounded toolset. Chance to stick at SS long term with rangy, sure handed nature and a mid-80s arm across. Offensively, deploys a short, quick, right-handed stroke that has produced triple digit showcase exits & we have a track record on him of in-game production. Helped lead Valparaiso to a 4A State Title in 2025 as the everyday SS on that squad”

Cooper Trinkle, Scouting Director

Kentucky

+ Brooks Hendrix, OF (Highlands HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Hendrix burst on the scene with a 2025 Junior Season for the ages. Hitting an incredible .578 with 18 extra base hits, 21 stolen bases, and striking out only 3 times in 90 at bats. Excellent plate coverage with sound swing decisions will have him on the radar as a Prep Baseball Player of The Year Candidate for his upcoming Senior season. A walking tool shed evidenced by his 6.53 60 time, exit velocities approaching 100 mph, upper 80's arm strength from the Outfield, and a high baseball IQ have Hendrix as one of top uncommitted 26's left on the board from the Commonwealth. Prep Baseball 2nd team All State and a standout member at the Senior Future Games capped off a dream season for the the young outfielder. If Brian Benzinger's Bluebirds are going to make another run to the State Tournament then look for Hendrix to be leading the charge.

Jamie Tessoff, Scouting Director

Massachusetts

+ Luis Gonzalez, C (Boston College High School HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Very skilled and athletic catcher. The defensive skill set is polished as the receiving is soft and he threw very well. The bat had solid life to it, gap to gap power in the approach. Good looking player”

Dennis Healy, State Director, New England

Minnesota

+ Chase Bjorgaard, OF (Edina HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“One of the top uncommitted 2026 bats in Minnesota is Edina outfielder Chase Bjorgaard who was a future games alum as well as participating in the Central Super Senior Games last August. The left handed bat brings a combination of both speed with a 6.80 60-time and strength 95 mph exit velocity, to go along with an upper 80s arm velo. Bjorgaard will be an excellent get for a program next fall. ”

Andy Judkins, State Director

Nevada

(6/7/25)

+ Devin Martin, SS (arbor View HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“arguably Nevada’s top Uncommitted 2026, Martin came into the West Coast Games off of a huge summer campaign, then asserted himself as one of the, if not the, top prospect at the event, racking up 4 extra base hits along with holding down an impressive shortstop. Their is a lot to like about this Arbor View product, the speed, feel for the game, ability to drive the ball to all fields and most of all, the character, is what makes Martin a player who can play and have success at the next level. ”

Brett Harrison, West Coast Supervisor

North Carolina

+ Caiden McNeil, OF/SS (Kingsmen Baseball Academy HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“A wiry athlete with strength present, McNeil wowed onlookers, running a 6.67 sixty on the laser while jumping over 31in in the Vertical test, one of the top numbers on the year in North Carolina. A right handed hitter, McNeil worked flat with balance, showing excellent hand strength through contact.”

Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

Oklahoma

+ Cruz Gillespie, INF (Oklahoma Christian Academy HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Gillespie has shown huge tools in various phases of his game. Among them, the ability to impact games offensively both at the plate and on the bases as evidenced with his 103.7 mph max Exit Velocity and 6.47 60. The long-levered LHH has shown massive power to the pull side and could also offer defensive versatility with athleticism all over the yard. The uncommitted senior has continued to develop his game in all phases and is one of the top uncommitted players in the state.”

Bret Schwartz, Oklahoma Scouting Director

South Carolina

+ Roper Wentzky, INF (A.C. Flora HS HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:

“Roper continues to impress with each look, showing steady development and a well-rounded skill set. A versatile infielder who can handle multiple spots across the diamond, he’s showing improved athleticism and fluid infield actions, with growing confidence in his defensive game.

Kicked off the workout by running a personal best 6.98 in the 60-yard dash, reflecting his continued physical development and work on speed. In game play, he showed a short, compact swing and an aggressive approach at the plate, turning on an inside fastball and driving a hard line drive to left field for an RBI single, along with showing the ability to use the whole field while hitting.

Plays the game the right way, with quiet consistency and competitiveness. With his improving athleticism, defensive versatility, and feel for the barrel, Roper is a reliable performer who continues to trend in the right direction.”

+ Oliver Minyard, C (Woodrow Wilson HS, 2026) | Uncommitted :

“From 1/3/25: "C/INF Oliver Minyard (Woodrow Wilson, 2026) is a 2026 prospect with a strong foundation and exciting potential. At 6'0" and 182 pounds, he has a solid frame with room to add strength as he matures. Primarily a catcher and third baseman, Oliver possesses a well-rounded skill set that stands out defensively and offensively. A right-handed hitter, Oliver showcases a promising bat/power combination with a max exit velocity of 101 mph and an average of 90.8 mph, including a 371-foot max distance.
