Kishwaukee College Scout Day: Takeaways

On Tuesday, October 21st, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to Kishwaukee College to host the Kishwaukee College Scout Day with nearly 30 of their players.

Today, we are taking a look at some of the biggest standouts from the day with scouting reports and videos, below.

POSITION PLAYERS

Rs Fr. INF Grant Bruen (Glenbard East, IL)

5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Buren put together one of the best showings out of the crop at the Scout Day. Started the day running a 7.07 60-yard dash and continued his success in BP. The RHH flashed a controlled barrel throughout the round, working the bottom of the baseball. Bruen peaked his EV at 96 mph with a max distance of 337’. Defensively, flashed clean actions and tossed 83 mph across the diamond.

So. C Jonathan Hartline (Pecatonica, IL)

Measuring 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Hartline looked to be the top performing backstop from the event. Hartline ran the fourth best 60-yard time of the event at 7.03. In BP, the right-handed was consistently on the barrel, reaching a max EV of 98 mph, averaging 88 mph with a max distance of 350’. On the defensive side, Hartline flashed a pop time as low as 2.03 while throwing 74 mph from the chute.

Fr. OF Nico Mainolfi (Burlington Central, IL)

6-foot-1, 175-pounds, Mainolfi flashed athleticism throughout the event, showcasing well on both sides of the ball. To start the afternoon, Mainolf ran a 7.06 60-yard time. At the plate, the freshman had a max EV of 96 mph, while averaging 88 mph with a max distance of 337’. The right-hander had the third best outfield velocity at 85 mph.

Two-Ways

So. OF/RHP Sawyer Larson (Bay Port, WI)

6-foot-1, 180-pounds Larson impressed as a two-way player at the event, standing near the top of the leaderboards in multiple categories. The sophomore ran the second best 60-yard time of the event running a 6.96. At the plate the RHH had the best max EV (99 mph, 89 mph avg), top max distance at 386’, and top avg. bat speed (78 mph). On the mound, had the loudest bullpen of the event, working the fastball up to 89 mph, sitting 86-87 mph with ASR/S, the curveball worked in the low 70s with an avg. spin rate of 2529 rpm, mixed in a low spin changeup in the mid 70s. An impressive performance for the sophomore.

So. INF/RHP Brock Metzger (Rochelle Township, IL)

6-foot-1, 200-pounds, Metzger showcased well as a two-way prospect at the event. The right handed had a max EV of 98 mph, averaging 93 mph with a max distance of 365’, all of which were top or near the top of the leaderboard. Also, displayed some bat speed with an average bat speed of 69 mph. On defense, tossed 82 mph across the diamond. On the mound, worked the fastball at 82-84 mph, with 19 in. of avg. IVB, the curveball was thrown at 65-69 mph, and the changeup worked in the low to mid 70s with an avg. of 16 in. of HM.

Pitchers

So. RHP Patrick Jasinski (Oswego, IL)

6-foot-4, 180-pounds, the right-hander tossed a quality bullpen at the event. Jasinski flashed a four pitch mix with the fastball running up to 86 mph, sitting 83-85 mph, with ASR/S, the curveball worked in the mid 60s with an avg. spin rate of 2361 rpm, and -16 in. of avg HM. Also, flashed a slider in the low 70s with an avg. spin rate of 2526 and -18 in of avg. HM, and a changeup in the upper 70s.
