VENTURA, CALIF. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series returns as we wind down from a packed fall of Prep Baseball California events, scout baseball, and other opportunities to evaluate players we will be recognizing some of the top remaining uncommitted players around the state. We will be looking at players from the 2026 class and 2027 classes across the upcoming weeks/months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on a talented 2026 player who is featured inside the Top 250 of our 2026 California rankings. We are looking at the SoCal based '26 C Peyton Visage from Royal High School in Simi Valley, Calif.. Visage was a strong performer at the 2025 California State Games between the workout and three games the SoCal backstop showed his well-rounded profile behind the dish as a catch/throw receiver who brings sound offensive ability to add to a lineup at the next level.
During his JR. season with Royal High School Visage assumed the primary backstop role for a program which boasted five arms that have D1 commits or are already on D1 campuses to pitch. He adeptly handled the high quality stuff from those arms all season long guiding them to a team ERA of 1.64 and a 22-7 overall record good for a CIF-SS D2 playoff berth and narrowly missed out on the Coastal Canyon League title by one game for a second place finish. As good as Visage was behind the plate handling the well-stocked Highlanders pitching staff he was as effective hitting towards the middle of their lineup with 28 games played out of the 29 games the team played. He took 90 plate appearances with 75 official at bats to post a slash line of .307/.404/.440. He had 23 hits on the year with nine of those going for extra bases including eight doubles, one triple while driving in 18 runs and scoring 13 more of his own. Visage showed a disciplined approach on the spring to work a nine walks to eight strikeouts ratio over the spring while taking four hit by pitches. With the departure of a trio of key pieces towards the top of the Highlanders lineup Visage will be a prominent piece for taking the next step offensively to assume those impact roles in their lineup as they look to compete towards the top of a strong Coastal Canyon league.
The RH hitting Visage has a strong swing foundation that starts from a balanced set up with open feet and waggle in his hands. Peyton uses a smooth toe tap stride with medium length in the forward move while quietly getting a small separation between his hands and body to sequence effectively in the turn. His simple operation in the load allows him to make sound swing decisions and the RHH effectively uses his hips to rotate and getting into his lower half with quality present torque posting 10.3 Gs of rotational acceleration. His swing path is compact/direct geared mainly for middle of the contact with solid present metrics in both his quick hands up to 20.6 MPH peak hand speed with his direct path and sound turn producing bat speed at 72.7 MPH. His simple operation in the box combined with his sound approach/timing produced strong batted ball data via Trackman including a max EV up to 95 MPH during State Games batting practice with an average EV of 89 MPH producing a sweet spot rate of 64% and a hard hit rate of 45%. His path produces more leverage then loft in his batted ball profile reaching a max distance of 307' profiling to a line to line doubles profile, but with enough impact/strength at contact he can run a ball out to the pull side of the field.
Pina presently checks in at 5'6 160 lbs. frame with room to fill another 10-15 lbs. on the frame which does have sound present strength to it, but can be polished to fill out a bit more. He is squarely built with flexibility in his lower 1/2 allowing him to project a long term profile to stick behind the dish with his agility to block, strength to handle velocity and stick the pitch while showing the clean actions to track spin and present it effectively. His arm is solid with pop times as low as 2.03 while living accurately around the bag with 72 MPH catcher velocity.
The overall profile for Visage is well rounded with the profile to be a sound to strong defender at a premium spot at the next level while showing the tools at the plate to add a quality piece to a lineup. He is a solid name to know and follow for college progams on the hunt for catchers who have the tools to not only compete at the next level, but be able to bring quality performance into their teams.

Scouting Report
Peyton Visage, Royal (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: C Sound defensive backstop with intriguing hit tool that showcases power potential.
Body: 5-6, 159-pounds. Compact, well-proportioned build with room for further physical development.
Hit: RHH. Tall, slightly open stance with hands back at ear level, barrel resting over the shoulder, and a distinct bat waggle. Keeps the lower half active pre-pitch before initiating the load by sitting into the back knee as the hands drift back and the barrel works vertical. Uses a small leg kick for timing before a long, controlled stride forward, landing even. Turns hips aggressively at foot strike with hands staying back to create solid separation. Works hands direct to the ball with present bat speed, maintaining an uphill path while staying on top of the ball. Produces frequent hard contact with a line drive approach and gap-to-gap power potential. 70.6 mph bat speed with 7 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 89.0 mph. 307' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. Aggressive arm action, with compact path that gets up to a high 3/4 slot. Gets rid of the ball quickly. Shows decent carry on throws, consistently being around the bag.
Defense: 2.03-2.21 pop times. Maintains a low crouch with a one-knee setup, showing smooth receiving skills and quick, clean transfers. Exhibits consistent footwork and displays urgency on throws.
ATH: 7.44 runner in the 60. 1.77 and 4.08 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 19.80 max vertical.
Vizual Edge: 66.68 Edge Score
Visage continues to tick up for me now with my second high quality look at him this spring. Handling a staff full of lively arms with four D1 level pitchers and a depth of high quality uncommitted arms behind them Visage shows strong receiving skills, feel to block spin in the dirt and a solid arm which has room to tick upwards going forward. With a sound defensive profile he should garner some college interest, but his RH hitting profile is growing on me and with another multiple hit live look (pair of singles to the opposite field that were well struck) I’m trending up on his overall profile. Visage is more compact in his build with a hit over power profile at the plate, but if he continues to swing the bat at the level he has shown me twice now college programs should be keeping tabs on him for their upcoming 2026 recruiting classes.
The starting backstop tasked with catching the array of high-quality arms at Royal is the compact, athletically built Visage. This was my first time diving deeper on his profile and came away interested in his potential. The skill set behind the plate is sound good actions in his receiving and demonstrated the ability to block well on spin. His arm is quick with a clean, consistent transfer and accuracy to the base posting 2.0–2.05 pop times. Took strong at bats all game long picking up a vital bases clearing double on a line drive to LCF. The bat speed showed well and there was leverage in the path to work through the bottom half of the baseball and leverage it with carry to the middle/pullside of the field. Will definitely be a follow at future Royal games and a good name to know in the 2026 class.
