Uncommitted Reports

Cutler Chastain LHP / Bedford-North Lawrence, IN / 2027

+ From Grand Park Fall Championships Takeaways: A pick-to-click candidate that is really starting to click - Chastain was one of our scouting staffs' favorites on the summer circuit and continued his ascent this weekend with even louder velocities than we saw before. Body control stands out with some athleticism in a 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame. I love the operation, specifically the way the hips work and the quick, full arm action that follows. Offers a unique look with a low release height fastball that plays with carry at 84-87. Shows two-distinct breaking ball shapes (CB/SL) that both play in the low-70s and he knows how/when to use them. Also showed an above average CH to round out a starters' mix. The pitchability was a bit lighter than we saw in the summer in this outing, but the overall body of work & jumps shown leaves Chastain as one of the biggest '27 winners from the Hoosier State at this event.

Austin Conley LHP / Fishers, IN / 2027

+ My personal pick-to-click for 2026 and one our staff will be following early. Wiry, athletic, 6-foot, 180-pounder w/ a balanced delivery and clean arm on the backside. We've had him up to 83.4, with some rumors of more this fall, but the strike-throwing nature is what I am bullish on. Fills it with 3 above-average pitches including an upper-60s CB and mid-70s CH. Has averaged just over 3 walks per/9 while making an impact as a freshman & sophomore for the Fishers pitching staff.

Johann Dierker LHP / Hamilton Southeastern HS, IN / 2027

+ From the 2025 Preseason All-State: Dierker is an intriguing southpaw that stands at a compact, 5-foot-11, 185 pounds. It is a quirky, high-effort delivery with the arm stabbing down out of the takeaway and abruptly changing direction with slingy action to a 3/4 slot. He showed below average command in this look with abv avg carry to an 85-86 heater. The 72-76 curveball is still in the development stages, and he showed a tighter, cutter-like slider at 75-77. He rounded out a 4-pitch mix with a 79-81 change.

- Stuff showed flashes of more throughout the summer, pitched into the upper-80s (T89) at LakePoint. Bulldog-type competitor who is unafraid to compete with a fastball over the white. 21.2 IP as a sophomore, 4.20 ERA, 28 strikeouts to 15 walks.

Gunner Wade LHP / Franklin Community High School, IN / 2027

+ From Indiana HS Spring Scout Blog (4/25/25): Wade offered a strike-throwers' look and the crafty lefty continues to trend steadily. The 6-foot-2 southpaw pitched at 80-83 with a four-pitch mix that included a low-70s CB that played w depth, a shorter, mid-70s SL,  and a mid-70s sinking change that came out the hand with fastball intent. He carries the fastball with a full-circle arm getting behind an OTT slot at release and all three pitches tunnel well together. He is an above average athlete that still holds room to add strength.

* Career 2.77 ERA in 48 IP for Franklin as a freshman/sophomore with sub-1 BB/IP and 52 K.

Jackson Steury LHP / Angola High School, IN / 2027

+ From the 2025 Fall State Games: Undersized southpaw with some moxie and obvious competitive nature. Hides the ball well with a slight stab&wrap on the backside of the arm action, before flipping it up with quickness for an 83-86 mph fastball that played above bats from a unique, over-the-top slot from a lower release height. Flashed 2500 spin on 78-80 SL that played with late break. Some inconsistencies, but undoubtedly a niche-type arm that could provide uniqueness and competitiveness out of the 'pen.

* Struck out 28 in 16.1 IP as a sophomore while maintaining a 3.00 ERA, though he did 19 walks.
