Georgia Class of 2029 Rankings: A Breakdown

Prep Baseball Georgia
Staff

The time has come for the players in the 2029 class to step onto a high school baseball field in 2026. It is every young prospects goal to play varsity baseball for their school. We know that time may come sooner than others because the state of Georgia has some of the most competitive high school players in the country. The evaluation process is always fluid and on going and we know that development comes at different stages of every young players career.

This initial release will feature 100 players that we have gotten to see at our Rising Stars events over the last year as well as the tournaments at LakePoint this fall and summer. This list will expand and develop as the prospects in the 2029 class begin to emerge.

Today, we will give a breakdown of the class into 5 categories and highlight players throughout the entire 100 that we have seen in showcase events or tournaments at LakePoint.

As a 2029 graduate Prep Baseball Georgia has 2 premier "Invite-Only" events that lead to the Southeast Super Sophomore Games, which take place the 1st weekend in August. Our first event will be Preseason All-State January 10th, which is where we kick off the year and build our scouting schedule for the spring season. From there we will invite players to the Top Prospect Games which will take place June 2nd and 3rd at LakePoint Sports. We will then pick the Georgia team from these 2 events + a full spring and summer evaluating during games.

The Breakdown

As we begin to dive more into the 2029 class we wanted to highlight players that we have seen over the last year that made a strong first impression. Whether it have been in a preseason showcase like Rising Stars Preseason All-State or in a tournament at LakePoint, there is always something that stands out about certain players. We are going to break them down into 5 categories. It is always fun to see these players transform and mature as players, but these are just one trait that stands out about their game right now.

Yesterday we released the initial rankings with 100 players that can be found HERE. We also highlighted the entire top 10 with notes and video that can be found HERE.

“The Hitters”

A phrase we like to use a lot is “Hitters Hit”. This refers to the players that anytime we are running around scouting the 8 fields at LakePoint it always seem like we look over and these player are getting a hit.

#12 Ashton Brown, OF, Sprayerry
#21 JD Floyd, 1B, Pope
#22 Kellen Hoffman, UTL, North Paulding
#27 Jacob Dockter, 1B, Mount Vernon
#52 John Brennan, SS, Midtown

“The Arms”

Pitching is typically one of the things that takes a littler longer to identify at a young age. Velocity comes over time, but first they have to be in the zone and know how to get outs. Here we highlight a few players we know are going to be throwing on day 1 of a tournanment to get ready to come back on championship day because they have advanced "stuff".

#14 RJ Westbrook, LHP, Mount Paran
#16 Fuller Carver, RHP, Harris County
#24 Brock Simpson, RHP Fitzgerald

“The Power”

Development is a big part in baseball, and power is one thing that usually takes time to develop, but some players are stronger than others at a young age, so these are the players that have shown some serious power on display whether it be in a showcase setting or games at LakePoint.

#15 Zeke Dotson, C, Dawson County
#23 Buck Shepherd, 3B, West Laurens
#26 Carson Clark, C, Cambridge
#31 Holden Borland, UTL, South Forsyth
#32 JB Nichols, 1B, Cartersville
#36 Tyler Hickman, C Cartersville
#51 Jordan Brynteson, OF, Dacula

“The Gamers”

Our sample size is relatively small for this class for now, but we did get a chance to see a majority of these players over the summer in some 14u tournaments. We had multiple looks at a lot of these guys and they continue to perform game in and game out. They do a lot of things really well. They may not be the fastest or the strongest yet, but they are going to produce no matter the setting.

#13 Hudson Pursell, SS/RHP, Wesleyan
#18 Graysen Radics, OF, Wesleyan
#19 Chase Michelson, SS, Lovett
#28 Paxton Jennings, SS, Harlem
#30 Liam Search, SS, Roswell
#33 Tyler Cianciolo, SS, North Forsyth
#37 Carson Florence, SS Blessed Trinity
#38 Bates Harrison, SS, Statesboro
#39 Carson Thieme, SS, Athens Academy
#40 Eli Rice, SS, North Oconee
#43 Jack Greene, 3B, Denmark
#53 Felix Joiner, SS, Maynard Jackson
#78 Deuce Green, 3B, Pace

“The Sleepers”

It is hard to call these players “sleepers” at this point in their career, since they have so much time for development, but we wanted to highlight some players with strong tools across the board that will take off at a rapid rate as they begin to grow and add some strength.

#55 Nolan Idol, OF, Lakeview Academy
#60 JR Pearse, OF Wheeler
#61 Andrew Nixon Jr. , SS, Harrison
#62 Kolton Kisz, SS, Blessed Trinity
#64 AJ Jackson, OF, Southeast Bulloch
#68 Ethan Patti, 3B, Mount Paran
#74 Myles Rahm, C, Alpharetta
#80 Gus Federico, 1B, Holy Innocents
#95 Jace Grogan, OF, Jones County
