Anthony (AJ) Dove OF / RHP / St. Michaels Middle/High School, MD / 2028One of the more well-rounded performances on both sides of the ball, Dove certainly made an impression in our first look in nearly nine months. It’s a strong 6’1” frame, sporting added strength since our last look, translating into low-90s EVs with the ability to spray line drives across the diamond. Approaching a 7.0 run tool and with a mid to upper-80s arm from the outfield, it gives Dove some versatility defensively. However, his performances across two games were worth the price of admission. Dove collected two barrels on Saturday, a HHB at third for a lineout before spraying an opposite field RBI double into the right-center gap. On Sunday, he collected a third barrel while showing off the ability on the bump. The velocity won’t blow you away, but he shows the competitiveness to attack hitters with the low-80s fastball while showing the ability to spin the high-60s curveball for strikes. Expect Dove to be an impact contributor in 2026 for a Saint Michaels squad who comes off a state championship appearance.

Joshua Elmore 1B / RHP / Madison High, VA / 2028A 2025 Super Sophomore Games alum with Team Select, Joshua Elmore turned in another impressive weekend in front of our staff from start to finish. A physical 6’1” frame translated into one of the more consistent rounds of the day, turning in a 97 max EV (91 avg EV). The power upside showed itself not only during the workout, but also in-game. It’s an uphill bat path through the zone, allowing him to elevate one and sneak a backside homer over the right field wall. On Sunday, Elmore took the mound and was sprung into action earlier than expected, providing three quality innings on the bump. Elmore worked a three-pitch mix, mainly working the low-80s fastball up to 84 with an impressive splitter that froze hitters and forced multiple weak rollovers early on. He eventually settled in, striking out five of his last seven batters via strikeout. A very-well rounded weekend for the physical 2028.

Cole Obstgarten RHP / SS / Independence High, VA / 2027On a Saturday afternoon filled with some strong pitching performances, Obstgarten puts his name towards the top of that list. The 5’11”, 160-lb righty started the game for Team Gold, striking out three over two shutdown innings. Obstgarten works at a quicker pace, preventing hitters from making adjustments. Working from a lower ¾ slot, he pounded the zone with the fastball and slider primarily in the first. The fastball worked mid-80s up to 85 and the ability to land early in the count allowed him to mix things up with the slider late, missing barrels consistently. In his second inning out, he added a third pitch, the changeup, which really impressed our staff as he utilized it at ease, allowing him to strike out two of his final three hitters.

Cooper Crabtree C / 2B / Benedictine College Preparatory, VA / 2029It is a competitive spirit each time Crabtree takes the field, and it was a lot of the same at the Mid-Atlantic State Games. He had some of the best rounds during the workout, sending multiple baseballs out of the yard to the pull side. With the impact coming mostly from the pull side, he still is confident in using the opposite side of the field. The swing translates in game, where he makes quality contact. It is a hit tool type of bat that shows some flashes of some early power potential. Behind the dish, the arm strength is still making strides, but he has shown accuracy on throws in game situations. There are some early traits that are present that give excitement to what is to come in the future.

Conner Lockhart 3B / SS / Miller School of Albemarle, VA / 2028In our first look since the 2025 East Coast Super Sophomore Games, Lockhart continued to make impressions on our staff. He has added some strength to the long, wiry frame that was shown in the workout with a top exit velocity of 99.3 MPH. It is a line drive driven path that works gap to gap. He is patient and has zone awareness in his approach. Defensively he has fluid actions and above-average arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield. The run tool continues to improve as well as, he turned in a 6.98 60-yard dash. There is still a lot to dream on for the future as he is moving in the right direction heading into the offseason.

Declan Schnabel 1B / 3B / Gonzaga College High School, VA / 2027It was an impressive weekend for the Gonzaga product as he put on an offensive clinic throughout the weekend. On Saturday he started the day with an impressive round of batting practice, displaying his raw power to all fields. He held an average of 91.2 MPH with a top exit of 101.7 MPH. The swing translated over into game situations where he picked up multiple hits in gameplay. He shows some adjustability late in counts and is comfortable with using the back side of the field. There is some athleticism in the physical frame, as he turned in 7.01 sixty in the workout. He can put together competitive at-bats by being a constant threat to impact the baseball.

Diarmuid Gardiner RHP / SS / Walt Whitman High, MD / 2028“Puck” Gardiner has had a standout 2025 campaign, and yet another strong performance in front of our staff at the Mid-Atlantic State Games has cemented himself as one of the top talents in the class. The presence and ability on the bump continues to impress, running the fastball into the upper 80s with late life and the ability to dot to both sides of the plate. The slider is coming on nicely, showcasing added feel and increased tight shape that allows the fastball play a tick up even more. It’s an athletic makeup with high octane stuff that continues to sharpen in each look. Offensively, the hit tool sparks as well. Collected two hits in-game, both to the pull side and showcases the ability to spray line to line. As strength continues to be added to the frame, look for “Puck” to be a household name to follow come 2026.

|
Gianni Heidenberg OF / LHP / Archbishop Spalding High School, MD / 2028The 5-foot-8 outfielder was a pleasant surprise this weekend, and the ability to impact in multiple facets certainly garnered my attention throughout the weekend. It’s a wiry makeup with plenty of athleticism that showcases itself well at the dish, spraying line drives to all fields with strength present to the pull side. It’s a controlled, yet aggressive approach at the dish that yields present bat to ball skills, notching two hits in-game.
|
| |
Kory Queen RHP / 3B / St. Charles High School, MD / 2026It was an eye-opening performance consistently throughout the weekend for Queen, one that impressed our staff immensely on both sides of the ball. A dynamic athlete, standing at 5-foot-11, 173-pounds, Queen brings intensity and athleticism in every facet. The swing produces line drives to both alleys with loud pull side power, showcased in-game on Saturday with a no-doubt solo homerun out to left field. On the bump, the arsenal is impressive, mixing three pitches for strikes and running the fastball up to 88 mph with relative ease, showcasing the ability to land the SL/CB mix in any count. The heater is the difference maker, working it to both sides of the plate with some late life and the ability to change eye levels. It’s a high floor arm with athleticism and strength that allows the offensive production to play a tick up. The two-way ability is present, and a strong performance at this event should only propel the uncommitted 2026 to new heights over the winter months.

Brandon Toadvine LHP / 1B / Saint Michaels, MD / 2028You’d be hard pressed to find a more competitive and hard-nosed player than Brandon Toadvine. The 6-foot, 200-pound southpaw was impressive on the bump, mixing three pitches for strikes and showcasing a velo tick with the fastball, up to 84.4 mph. The slider showcases tight shape with the ability to vary shapes, showcasing the ability to get whiffs down in the zone. The splitter is a newfound third pitch that was arguable the most impressive pitch of any arm over the weekend. Averaging 925 rpm, the split was thrown with confidence down in the zone at 76-77 mph, playing well off the heater. As the feel for the secondary increases, and the velo continues to tick up, look for Toadvine to cement himself as one of the top arms in the class.

| |
James Worrall 3B / RHP / Archbishop Spalding High School, MD / 2028One of my favorites from this event, the lean 6-foot-1, 170-pound infielder certainly upped his stock across this Maryland class, and the offensive ability in itself provides plenty of intrigue. It’s a calm, yet explosive operation at the dish with the ability to spray line drives to both gaps and athleticism that allows singles to turn into doubles. The hands are fluid with strong wrists, showcasing the ability to turn the barrel at a high rate with some evident power upside. As this frame really fills out, look for this to be another top-tier player to come out of Archbishop Spalding.

Colt Bradshaw SS / 2B / Cape Henry Collegiate School, VA / 2027Arguably the best defender at the event. Made play after play to both sides. The arm strength will slot him more at second as of today, but he is a guy that has a tendency to make the hard ones look easy. The power still flashes, especially for the frame, but could really take off by leaning into the hit a little bit more. Handles the middle and inner halves well, but can continue to round out the offense by using the backside of the field more often. High energy glue type of guy that a team can rally around.

| |
Ryan Gaines RHP / OF / Highland School, VA / 2028Long levered 6-foot-4 frame with room to fill. Full arm action and above average arm speed. Normal effort operation and is able to get to his mid-upper 80's fastball pretty easily. Showed a solid feel for a gradual slider in the zone, but it will need to firm up in terms of velo as he continues to mature and round out his arsenal. This is an arm that continues to get better every time we see him. The velo continues to pick up, while the strikes have gotten better and he is able to compete in the zone and pitch off of the fastball. The next step for Gaines should again be firming up the slider, as well as beginning to use and show some form of a third pitch. That will be vital as he enters into his active recruiting period next summer.

Parker Jones OF / 2B / Liberty Christian Academy, VA / 2027Is a guy that has really made an impression on me in the past few weeks. During the workout at the Fall ID he showed well, but in game is where it really jumped. Slightly narrow and upright stance, lower set hands, and a deeper hand load to a slight arm bar. Even with getting a little locked out, he showed the ability in game to get back inside of the ball and be on time for fastballs. Above average hand speed and average bat speed at the plate, but has some twitch in his hands to make up for being a little light in the strength department. Average runner that slots more second and third in the infield, and the arm strength leans a little more second base. Plays with energy and will be one to follow going into the spring for LCA this year.

| |
Hudson Large SS / RHP / Abingdon High, VA / 2028First look, but a very promising look for the Abingdon HS product. Broad, strong frame standing at 6-foot, 203-pounds. Average runner, but plays with a higher motor and the run should stay similar down the line. Slightly above average arm strength across the infield and the ability to impact the baseball to all fields. Higher hands and a more vertical barrel in setup, but he gets it on plain fairly easily. While he showed well in the workout, it was in game where he made his biggest impressions. Impacting the ball to all fields with multiple extra base hits and absolutely dominating on the mound. Faced twelve hitters in two extended innings of work and struck out six of them. Sat mid 80's and was up to 87 mph with a firm 75-78 mph SL and some feel for a changeup that had late fade. Landed the changeup for strikes at a 100% clip and the slider better than 60% strikes. Cannot wait to make that nearly five hour trip this spring to see Large and the Falcons, the talent is well worth the drive.

| |
Aiden Smith 2B / SS / ABINGDON HIGH, VA / 2026Twitchy and explosive athlete that is back on track and should be a really solid late pickup in the 2026 recruiting class. Turned out a 6.8 60, was 92 from the outfield, and had the third best vert in the event (27.7"). Higher set hands at the plate and works from a slightly wider base. He is short and direct to contact with a level path through the zone. There are some line drive tendencies with the way the swing works and he has the footspeed to stretch and extra base. While he is possibly more suited for the outfield, he is athletic and versatile enough to play some spot time at second base, but he does have the arm strength for the left side, as well as all three outfield spots. Smith was a little dinged up this summer and is back fully healthy. He will be one to see early this spring at Abingdon.

| |
Aiden Tuck OF / RHP / Powhatan High, VA / 2027Have had the opportunity to see Tuck numerous times over the past 18 months and this was arguably his best performance I have seen on the mound. Last fall at state games he was more dominant in a sense, but did not show the pitchability and control that he showed in this outing. It wasn’t swing and miss stuff, as he did not record a strikeout, but he showed a much much much improved feel for spin and secondary in general. It was a breath of fresh air to see him lean more into the pitching side, as opposed to throw. There is some raw arm talent and there are still some little things that should improve with maturity and experience, but again it was the best outing I have seen from him. The athletic right hander was up to 90 on the mound and has the tools to be an impact player at the next level, especially as it continues to translate into game action.
