Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 C/RHP Carlo Woellner-Davis (Conrad Weiser)

Nathan Goranson
Northeast Scout

Woellner-Davis is one of the more intriguing prospects in the entire Keystone State. He is a lean, athletic catcher that can pitch as well and possesses an incredibly loose, electric arm action. The 5 ‘10 and 160-pound catcher/pitcher is an athletic mover that continues to add speed and athleticism every time we see him.

At catcher, Woellner-Davis stands out right away when you see him display his 81-mph arm strength down to second base. His pop time is 2.01-2.06 and he delivers absolute seeds down to second base in workouts and in gameplay. He moves well behind the plate with actions that are like how a shortstop moves.

Offensively, he is a switch-hitter that has a good feel for the barrel from both sides of the plate. At the East Coast Super Sophomore Games this summer he produced loud contact from both sides of the plate and collected hits from both sides as well. He has similar swings from both sides that produce gap-to-gap line drives.

On the mound, his athletic, electric arm action produces a fastball that has peaked at 87.2 mph and typically sits 83-86 mph. At the ECSSG his curveball produced a spin rate of 2,633 rpm and was thrown at 72-73 mph. His cutter is 77-78 mph with slight horizontal movement that works away from right-handed hitters.

Overall, Woellner-Davis has a high-level arm talent from behind the plate, a projectable frame, is a switch-hitter, and throws upper 80s on the mound. He has all the makings to be one of the Northeast’s top all-around ball players.
