As we move closer to the 2026 high school baseball season, Prep Baseball Washington continues an offseason series of Picks to Click.

The Picks to Click series focuses on spotlighting players that Prep Baseball staff feel are poised for big jumps this coming high school season. Whether players have shown significant growth in skillset, or are poised for added opportunity at their high school, these prospects will be intruiging follows as we enter the 2026 season.

Today, we spotlight three class of 2028 prospects that could click in a big way headed into their sophomore springs. Video and scouting reports from previous looks are included.

Picks to Click

2028 Graduates

Teague Weible C / 1B / North Kitsap, WA / 2028

Weible is likely next in line to take over the starting catcher role after the graduation of senior Greysen Prichard for the Vikings. The JFG alum more than looked the part of a varsity standout at this fall's West Coast Super Sophomore games, collecting multiple hits in-game while handling velocity well defensively. Weible's long, leaner 6'2 frame may move him off the catcher position down the road, but for now he features a lightning-quick catch and throw with a best pop time of 1.86 seconds. The righty bat also features a quiet pre-pitch and controlled, repeatable operation through contact, and should grow into more power as he continues to mature. Weible is an up-arrow prospect heading out of his most recent look and an easy bet to take a step forward next spring.

Jonathan Purcell OF / RHP / Moses Lake, WA / 2028

Another standout in Eugene at the Super Sophomore Games, Purcell's speed tool was among the best at the event, with a 6.82 60 yard dash time. The lefty bat may have impressed even more with his bat, carrying over from an exceptional showing at the summer's PNW State Games. Purcell's compact frame stays connected with some power already shown to the big part of the field. His weekend in Eugene was higlighted by a towering ground rule double to the deepest part of PK Park. He'll look to contribute to a Moses Lake side that made a surprise state tournament appearance last spring and features some exciting young talent heading into 2026.

Liam Epperson SS / RHP / Rogers, WA / 2028

Rogers High School will need to fill several key positions heading into next season, including replacing one of the best left side of the infields of Ian Draper and Martyn Hernandez. Epperson showed potential as an infield answer with an intriguing look late in the summer. The sophomore kicked off his showcase with a 7.1 60 time, followed with a sound defensive showing at SS with throws up to 81 MPH. He then flashed at times with the bat, working balls into the gaps into the low 90's with a tight, athletic operation. The 5'10, 160 pound frame should continue to add, and the FB sat 78-80 on the mound with more in the tank as well. Epperson should have more of a path to varsity time this year and will be a name to watch in the SPSL.
