Bay Area Summer ID: Event Analysis

On July 1st, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the Bay Area Summer ID at Islanders Field in Lathrop, Cal. This was an open event for high school classes (2026-2029), and gave our staff an ample look at the state's top prospects.

Today, we will release all of the scouting reports from the event, with a Top-10 overall ranking from the event:

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

1. Cooper Carleton, Whitney (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: LHP/1B Projectable left-handed pitcher with a long, whippy arm action and high three-quarter slot, showing balanced, controlled mechanics and long extension through release; showing advanced pitchability with room to grow physically and velocity-wise
Body: 6-1, 152-pounds. Lengthy skinny frame with room for more
Delivery: Brings hands down and up on windup. Drops arm below belt level before release. Big leg kick. Balanced back side with upright back-leg. Controlled through release. Finished with long extension through zone, stays behind front leg well
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action with slight whip. Slight over the top with high three-quarter angle
FB: T86, 85-86 mph. Present command, looks to spot outer half. Arm-side run on the pitch. Plays well left-on left, strikeout upside. T2188, 2009 average rpm.
CB: 68-69 mph. 12-6 shape. Freezes hitters as set-up pitch. Plays well to get ahead. T2668, 2375 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Slight arm-side fade, leaves over the middle. Ability to throw for strikes. Tunnels well with FB. T1823, 1736 average rpm.
