This year's MVPitcher is Charlie Harrington (2027). The Goochland HS right-hander turned in one of the most dominant in-event outings in recent memory. In three extended innings of work on the mound, Harrington struck out eight, allowed one hit, walked one, and did not give up a run. While he had a solid showing at the plate, on the mound is where he has shown the best this fall. On the mound he was 83-86 mph with the fastball and got up as high as 87 mph. The breaking ball is where he separated himself during this outing. He landed it at a near 60% rate, which was good enough for the fourth best curveball zone percentage at the event. It is a bigger shaped breaking ball, but has solid velo for the bigger shape. The curveball sat 74-77 and was up to 78.4 mph. While by Trackman zone standards he did not land any changeups in the zone, he got some chases late in counts and was able to utilize it as more of a finisher. Harrington continues to prove his worth on the mound with his pitchability, ability to land multiple pitches for strikes, and ability to compete in the zone and win games. |
