Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 RHP Cristian Matos (Don Bosco Prep)
October 24, 2025
Matos boast a physical frame of 6 ‘0 and 185-pounds. The hardworking right-handed pitcher is currently the number 6 RHP in the Garden State and continues to trend up and turn heads.
On the mound, Matos has a plethora of pitches with a 4-pitch arsenal that includes a cutter and curveball alongside his fastball and changeup. He works down the slope at a slow and controlled pace and has a slight leg turn towards second base when he lifts his leg. He lands into a very strong throwing position and delivers the pitch with a loose, wiry arm action. His fastball has jump and carry into the zone that sits 84-86 mph and peaked at 86.5 mph. The secondary pitches can all be landed to hitters on both sides of the plate. His curveball is 71-73 mph and spins at 2,368 rpm, the cutter is 79-80 mph with 2,400 rpm, and his changeup is 79-81 mph.
Overall, Matos has a very polished arm action and mechanics to go alongside his premium frame. He has the upside to being one of the Northeast’s premiere arm talents.
