Then and Now
We first saw Shumpert at the Rising Stars Preseason-All State in March and then he closed out the year at the Kennesaw State Fall Campus Tour. The metrics were up across the board led by strength added going from 149lb to 158.3lb. These young athletes seem to transforom over night. He took his 60 time from 7.13 to 6.92 which is very impressive given the added strength/size. From a hitting perspective the numbers were up across the board with max exit velocity going from 86.7 to 94.0. The average exit velocity was up 5mph with the average distance up over 50ft. The max distance went from 293ft to 364ft. From positional perspective the OF velocity was up 4mph. Look for Shumpert to continue to tack on strength and become a name to know in the 2029 class.
