SE Missouri Fall ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

On Saturday, November 8th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to Ultimate Fitness in Kennett, MO to host the annual SE Missouri Fall ID. This event featured 9 players from the area in attendance.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 3 names that popped to our staff from Saturday's trip to Kennett.

Quick Hits

+ One of the biggest winners of the day was two-way standout C/RHP Mason Thornton (Thayer, 2027). At the plate, Thornton displayed present power with exit velocities in the upper 90s, topping at the day's top mark of 97.4 mph. Behind the dish he was clean, putting down pop times as low as 1.90. On the mound he utilized a three-pitch mix, with the fastball sitting in the low 80s. He worked off the heater with a changeup and slider, both in the mid 70s.

+ INF Kade Clary (Alton, 2027) showed a strong feel for the barrel in a mature round of BP where the junior saw his exit velocity climb into the mid 90s, peaking at 94.3 mph with a max distance of 336 feet from a stron, rotational right-handed swing.

+ Already standing at 6-foot-1 201-pounds as a freshman, INF/RHP Maddux Dobbins (Neelyville, 2029) is full of potential and will be an exciting follow entering his first spring of high school ball. In his round of BP, Dobbins produced EVs up into the mid 90s, topping out at 93 mph, with a strong average of 84.5 mph.
